We got our first glimpse into the uncanny secret world of Assassins Creed in 2007. Where Desmond Miles syncs into the animus to play the life of Altaïr. Our introduction into the world was rather… Bumpy. Being thrown into a game with no real knowledge of how this was going to go. Besides trailers and guides. If playing this game because the cover looked cool, you were a little lost. Also having no real idea where to go or what to do.

However, it does get cleared up after about 20 minutes into game play. As Desmond you’re kidnapped and taken to an Abstergo Industries Headquarters in Rome, Italy. From here you’re forced to participate in a series of trial’s. Which all include the Animus.

We learn that the Animus can translate genetic memories of ancestors into simulated reality. With this there can also be a bleeding effect after using the Animus for too long.This will bleed into someone who uses the Animus in the actual real world. Having the ability to do things that you weren’t able to do before.

Altaïr starts out being blinded by arrogance. With that being said he ends up botching a plan to steal something very valuable. This item is with Robert de Sablé, who is the Grand Master of The Knights Templars. Whereas Altaïr is a part of the Assassins. Both groups are warring against one another.

This brings us back to Desmons abduction. He was born into the Assassins. Kidnapped by Warren Vidic the leader of the current Templars. He is being used to retrieve information that will lead the Templars to an artifact. The Apple of Eden. This artifact is said to be able to control the minds of others. Being extremely useful all around when your goal is to take over the world.

Back to Altaïr. After botching the mission he has to redeem himself. Even though he partially does that by fighting off a Crusade attack on the assassins home base of Masyaf. He has to assassinate nine individuals.

From a lowly seller of weapons of weapons to both Assassins and Templars. To the Grand Master of The Knights Templars himself. As Altaïr eliminates each target, he learns that all nine are secretly members of the Templars. That together they were conspiring to locate an Apple of Eden.

Unfortunately an assassination attempt on Robert at a funeral in Jerusalem. Altaïr discovers that Maria, a young Templar agent, had disguised herself as him. Just to buy enough time for Robert to negotiate an alliance between the Crusaders and Saracens against the Assassins.

Instead of killing her for the distraction he let’s her live. Altaïr ends up catching up to Robert in the camp of King Richard I. He exposes Roberts crimes. However, Richard is unsure who to believe. Instead he suggests a one-on-one fight to the death. Stating that God will decide the victor.

Robert makes a confession that he did not act alone.This is after Altaïr wounds him badly. He continues on saying that Al Mualim had also sought the Apple and betrayed the Assassins in the process.

Bad things happen when he returns to Masyaf. Altaïr finds them all including the Assassins under the control of the artifact. which is now held by Al Mualim. With the help of several Assassins brought in for backup. Altaïr storms the citadel and confronts his mentor in the gardens.

Using the Apple, Al Mualim fights unfairly with his apprentice. Using illusions before resorting to single combat. Altaïr stabs him with his hidden blade and tries to destroy the Apple. Instead unlocks a secret map within that reveals the location of countless other Pieces of Eden around the world.

Finally with everything done Vidic reveals what everyone figures out throughout the gameplay. Abstergo is the modern day Templars. Lucy is actually an undercover Assassins spy. Honestly those vibes were there all along. Desmond then is alone. Due to the bleeding effect he can see writings all around. Depicting a foretelling of what’s to come and wipe out all of humanity.
