Is ice cream and love synonymous for you? Are ice creams what keeps you motivated in life? Are ice creams your sweet addiction? Well then, surely you would love to know all about ice creams. Ice cream comes from a large family! Well, did you know this fact? Yes, what you normally relish as ice-cream through a scoop or in a cone may actually just be a single member of that family. There are four more – all with their distinct properties and tastes. Have you met the rest of the clan? So, this post is dedicated to all you ice cream lovers who try their best to enjoy them yet keep an eye on the waistline.

The Different Types of Ice Creams and Lots About Them!

Now when we are introducing you to the different members of the ice cream family, you may as well know some of their salient features as well. So, are you ready for the introductions?

1. Ice cream — First let's talk about the most popular member of the ice cream family which is called ice cream itself. This is what you usually have and are crazy about! Basically, it’s made up of sugar, milk fat, and flavour or essence that is added to it. You will also find some ice creams containing non dairy products and skimmed milk. But yes, the calorie value of this is pretty high. Maybe that’s why you call it a sinful treat. You can scoop it and enjoy it in the most chilled way, the choice, pleasure, and guilt -- all are yours.

2. Soft serve ice cream — Calling the thinnest member of the ice-cream family -- the soft serve ice cream. These are made by incorporating air into the ice creams during the freezing process. And of course because of this process it is extremely soft to have and doesn’t require scoops to serve them. You just need to indulge in having this softest treat to satisfy your taste buds and don’t even have to stress upon the calorie count. And if you are opting for soft serve ice cream from Whole Farm Australia, they are even healthier than ice creams because they contain less milk fat than the regular ones and are sold in the best packaging via them.

3. Frozen yoghurt — So, here is ‘Froyo’ or frozen yogurt from the ice cream family. It’s the most health-conscious member which is made entirely with yogurt and contains no butter, fat, or even milk. And with the added flavours to it, it can be totally awesome to taste. Well, do invite froyo to your refrigerator a lot because it’s the healthiest alternative of ice cream and doesn’t increase your inches at the waist yet satisfies your cravings perfectly.

4. Gelato — Here is another healthy member from the same family that contains lesser sugar and lesser butter fat. However, this cousin of your favourite dessert gives you a similar feeling of tasting an ice cream. That is why it’s actually a great treat to enjoy without your regular guilt of increasing the calorie counts.

5. Sorbet — So, this is a sophisticated member of the clan which doesn’t intake any amount of milk or dairy product to get formulated but has a lot of sugar. (Sugar coated in precise words.) Instead of milk or dairy products, you’ll find this one made with fruit purées, juices, and even water. So, you can enjoy it as a light treat -- but remember the sugar content as well.

So, how did you like your date with this ice cream family? Each of them has their unique taste and loving quality. Agreed, some of their features may not work for all – like for a diabetic person, a sugary sorbet may not be the right kind of treat, while the richer creamier version of ice cream may not gel well with a person who is lactose intolerant. But since now you are aware of it all, we are sure you’ll know which one to pick and when.
