The Reseller Market

We are taking a look today at the most expensive sneakers ever, or what you could buy instead for the same money. The sneaker resale market is no joke. It’s currently sitting at $6 billion, which is small compared to the overall fashion market which is $1.78 trillion. But, for the select few that have grown in the reselling market, its a lot of money. The Grey Journal is predicting the sneaker resale market could be worth $30 billion by 2030.

The Most Expensive Sneakers

Breaking down the list, you’ll see that there is an astonishing amount of money spent on sneakers. I’m not saying its wrong because I myself have definitely thought about wetting my whistle in the reselling market.

Solid Gold OVO x Air Jordan’s – $2 million

Solid Gold Air Jordan’s for $2 million? Yikes! If you’re dropping this kind of cash on these sneakers congratulations, you have won at life. Only problem is, you can’t even wear these because they are solid 24k gold. Created by American artist Matthew Senna, each shoe weighs 50lbs.

For slightly less, $1.9 million you could get the Lamborghini Centernario, one of the most powerful & luxurious cars ever made. Launched on the 100th birthday of the company’s founder Ferruccio Lamborghini, its the first model to have 3 exhausts.

Michael Jordan’s Game-worn Converse – $190,000

Michael Jordan’s Game-worn Converse come in next at $190,000. Like the name states these were worn by Jordan in the 1984 Olymics in Los Angeles. And that’s it. They aren’t made out of gold. When the signed pair of shoes came up for auction they were expected to fetch $100,000 but they surpassed the expectations.

According to recent listings, a 2-bedroom condo in Orlando, Florida will set you back $152,900. Its a tough decision.

Buscemi 100MM Diamond – $132,000

Next up on the most expensive sneakers ever, is the Buscemi 100mm Diamond sneakers. As you can imagine, they are made from Buscemi 100 MM Diamonds. Loaded with 11.5 carats set in 18-karat gold so be precise.

Its great to look fancy in nice white sneakers, but for $135,000 you could invest in the increasingly popular cryptocurrency market and buy yourself 3 Bitcoins.

Air Jordan 12 (Flu Game) – $104,000

Ok so, just about anything Michael Jordan touches is worth something to rare sneaker collectors. For $104,000 you can get the shoes that Jordan wore in a game while he had the flu. Let’s hope he sanitized the sneakers before he sold them!

If “Flu Game” shoes aren’t your thing, you could also buy 140 shares in the pioneering EV manufacturer Tesla. Current at the time of writing this.

Air Jordan 12 OVO Drake Edition – $100,000

The Air Jordan 12 OVO is an insanely popular shoe on its own. But when they released the Drake edition, they sent sneakerheads in a dizzy frenzy on eBay selling for $100,000!

What else can you get instead? Well, for $99,990 you can drive in luxury in a Tesla Model X. The premium SUV from the EV company.

Diamond Encrusted Air Force 1 – $50,000

Well, they seem a lot cheaper than some others on our list. But still, you’d need to be an elite socialite to own these. The Diamond Encrusted Air Force 1’s are a mere $50,000.

For the same price, you could do a Google search and find out where you can get a ride in a fighter jet….we had a look, you can go 50 times for $50,000

Air Jordan 11 Jeter – $40,000

To commemorate the retirement of Derek Jeter in 2017, the Jordan brand released a very limited run of these navy velvet Air Jordan 11’s. Only 5 pairs were made! They’ll set you back a cool $40,000

You know what else you can get for $40,000? A first-class round trip flying the prestigious Emirates Airlines, from Newark, USA to Singapore. It’s the longest non-stop flight in the world.

Air Jordan 2 OG – $31,000

Surprise surprise, another pair of Air Jordan’s on the list. They aren’t the most fashionable sneakers on our list but still they’re a rare commodity which is why they command the $31,000 price tag.

A nice pair of Air Jordan’s are great, however you could set you and your family up for the next 75 years with the top 3 streaming services. Netflix, Prime & Disney+, for the same price.
