Will Panama monkeys threaten humans in the future?

Panama monkey, a species of monkey, is also called Panama monkey because the population is distributed in Panama. In fact, it is not uncommon for Panama monkeys to enter the Stone Age.

In 2017, German zoologists announced that they found that Panama monkeys had learned to use stone tools to break open fruits, so they announced that Panama monkeys had entered the Stone Age.

The news was really shocking at first. They are all apes. It was through the initial use of stone tools that the ancestors of human beings developed step by step in the process of biological evolution to today, creating human civilization.

But when it comes to using tools, apes are not an exception. In fact, not only apes, there are many animals that use tools in nature. For example, some fish know how to use tools to break open shells, and crows also know how to use tools to decorate their homes.

But apes are indeed different from other animals. Apes are our close relatives. There are many similarities in bodies and genes. It can be said that apes are the closest animals to humans. But among the apes, are only the Panamanian monkeys able to use tools?

Obviously not. Chimpanzees also know how to use stone tools to break open fruits, use sticks to eat ants and so on. That is to say, Panama monkeys are not unique in scarcity among the animals that use tools. Even among apes, there are creatures like chimpanzees. In terms of genetic composition, chimpanzees are closer to humans, even through humans. With training, the IQ of chimpanzees is comparable to that of a few-year-old child.

1. The biological evolution of Panamanian monkeys may not necessarily become humans

Humans have evolved to this day and developed modern civilization. This is not the evolution of a single ape, but the final result of such a process of continuous evolution and the survival of the fittest in nature.

In the evolutionary history of apes in the past, there have always been multiple branches, just like the growth of a big tree. From terrestrial apes to ancient apes, to cavemen, Homo sapiens, etc., in the end, only Homo sapiens evolved into modern humans.

And other ape branches were eventually eliminated in nature. Therefore, it is unknown whether Panama monkeys can really evolve into modern humans now.

The evolution process of organisms is very complicated, even if they develop intelligence, they may not be able to evolve into human beings.

2. Panamanian monkeys do not have intelligence at this stage

We say that the ability to use tools is the fundamental difference between humans and other animals.

But just being able to use tools is not enough. Panama monkeys must also learn to make tools, which is the initial stage of intelligence.

The use of tools is based on local materials and measures according to local conditions. Manufacturing tools requires collaboration, communication, and imagination. Yuval Harari, the author of "A Brief History of Humanity", believes that a very important reason why Homo sapiens were able to finally defeat the great apes of the same period and evolve into modern humans is imagination.

Only with imagination can we make tools, use tools, and unite and cooperate, so that this group can continue to develop and expand, and there is the possibility of evolution.

At present, Panamanian monkeys are only initially able to use tools, and there is still a long way to go before making tools, let alone threatening humans.

3. Humans threaten Panamanian monkeys, or Panamanian monkeys threaten humans?

Speaking of the Great War of the Apes, the more famous one should be Hollywood's "Rise of the Planet of the Apes". But a movie is a movie after all, not to mention the unscientific intelligence that the gorillas suddenly possess in the movie, even if they really suddenly possess intelligence, with the current level of human weapons, it is obviously easy to eliminate the threat of Panama monkeys matter.

Not to mention nuclear bombs, only some heavy weapons and drones are needed to achieve precise strikes.

In the final analysis, it is not so much that we say that Panamanian monkeys threaten human beings in the future, it is better to say that humans will threaten the survival of Panamanian monkeys.

With the continuous expansion of human activities, many creatures are facing the risk of extinction. This is not only the Panamanian monkey, but also other apes, all of which are affected by human activities on land, in the air, and in the water.

Therefore, there is no problem with the human condition. Even if there is a real problem, it is a contradiction that erupts within human beings. And animals other than humans are really at risk of habitat loss.
