The British Prime Minister's campaign that has lasted for several weeks has finally come to an end, and the winner is Truss, who claims to be the next "Iron Lady".

Truss was successfully elected as the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. This result can be said to be expected. It can be seen from the Conservative Party approval ratings before the results were announced that Truss was the one "favored" by the Conservative Party. Her former rival, Sunak, is far below her in the Conservative Party.

Truss's campaign for the British Prime Minister and his first steps after becoming Prime Minister have not gone well.

Before she was announced as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom at 12:38 local time on the 5th of this month, the public had low expectations for her.

Judging from the degree of optimism of Britons on Truss released by the British polling agency YouGov, only 10% of the respondents believe that Truss will become a "good prime minister" who will lead the UK out of the predicament. It can be said that the impression of Truss in the hearts of the British people is not very good.

However, the outcome of this election is ultimately decided by members of the Conservative Party.

In the vote dominated by members of the Conservative Party, more than 100,000 Conservatives, who account for less than 0.3% of the UK's total population, won the prime minister competition with 81,326 votes.

In this regard, Bell, a professor at Queen Mary University of London and the University of Sussex, pointed out that the person who has the right to choose who is the next British Prime Minister does not represent all British people.

It seems that, under the manipulation of Conservative Party members, Truss has been firmly pushed to the throne of the Prime Minister, and whether the British people are willing to accept this result or not. It is worth noting, however, that Truss received only 57% of the vote in the Conservative Party, something that has never happened since the Conservative Party began to implement new voting rules in 2001. : Trus's vote rate is the first time in 22 years that a British prime minister has received less than 60% of the votes, which is the lowest number of votes for a prime minister in 22 years.

This cruel fact may also reflect that the members of the Conservative Party are not so "unanimous", and the 60,399 votes won by her former rival Sunak is enough to show that Sunak is still her biggest "opponent" .

Moreover, before Truss took office, international public opinion was not very optimistic about the female politician who may become the British Prime Minister. After all, she will face the worst moment in the UK, with issues such as high inflation crisis, energy shortage crisis, government employee strikes and so on now in front of Truss. Therefore, before the results of this election were announced, some British media believed that if Sunak was not elected as the British Prime Minister, it would be his luck.

It is very embarrassing that Truss was "splashed with cold water" by his own family just after announcing his appointment as British Prime Minister.

Truss had a father, John Truss, who was a professor of mathematics. According to the "Daily Mail", the father actually banned his students from mentioning his daughter Truss in front of him, and he also told the media that he was very concerned about Truss being a member of the Conservative Party and politically" to the extreme right”. Moreover, he is also concerned about a series of policies proposed by Truss.

It appears that even Truss's father does not support her becoming prime minister, and believes that a series of policies she proposed at the time of the election will cause more trouble for the United Kingdom.

Truss also faces taunts from the SNP and Liberal Democrats after not receiving support from his father.

The leaders of the two parties respectively predicted that "Truss will be worse than Johnson" and "Hold the next general election as soon as possible, Truss will not be prime minister for long."

On the day that Truss was announced as the British Prime Minister, she also boasted to former Prime Minister Johnson in her victory speech, saying that the policies he implemented during the new crown epidemic were very good, and he also successfully "Brexit" the United Kingdom. So "admirable". After her speech, the people in the audience were silent for a while before applauding.

It seems that even if he becomes the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, the road ahead for Truss will not be easy.

The United States and Europe are even more unhappy about Truss being elected as the British Prime Minister. Before Truss won, the U.S. media raved about Truss’s campaign path, and the fundamental reason was still on Truss’ foreign policy. Not only did she support Johnson's policy of leaving Britain out of the European Union, but she also pushed for changes to the Northern Ireland Protocol.

However, her actions not only angered the EU, but also made the United States wary of her. After all, if this "Northern Ireland Protocol" is amended, it would be equivalent to the British government unilaterally tearing up this agreement in order to gain absolute control over the Northern Ireland region. But the United States will not agree with Truss to do so. Pelosi once warned the United Kingdom: If the United Kingdom tore up this agreement, the United States will interrupt the free trade agreement negotiations with the United Kingdom.

Therefore, when Truss takes office as British Prime Minister, neither the United States nor Europe will be happy, and Truss will also make a choice on how to improve relations with the United States and insist on revising the "Northern Ireland Protocol".
