My position in this paper is to argue that technology is the application of a body of knowledge through the use of tools and processes in the production of goods and services. Technology is a kind of applied knowledge. It predates science and has a large science component. This paper focuses on the light bulb as a potent object. Here, I will briefly explain its history, science and technology and its impact on the society.

What is a light bulb? Who as Thomas Edison?

Light bulb is used to refer to the light source. The light bulb was invented in 1879 by Thomas Edison. Edison created a light bulb with a carbonized thread filament and demonstrated the incandescent lamp.

Edison played a major role in promoting the use of electrical power. He built the power distribution system in the 19th century.

Edison made home lighting feasible. He had always had an interest in science and a talent for invention. Edison is generally believed to be a scientific genius. In fact, he was more of a developer of ideas, some his own and some produced by others. Edison was a determined man who knew how to sell his ideas to investors and the public. In truth, he was more important as an organizer and businessman than as an inventor.

What technologies are involved in light bulb?

The light bulb has the following technologies: lighting, incandescent technology, automotive HID technology, LED technology and neon technology.

Lighting terminology deals with things such as brightness, candlepower, light, light bulb and lumens. Light is a source of energy. It is sometimes used to encompass other electromagnetic waves as well. Scientists measure light in lumens. Lumens take the amount of radiation and adjust it to the human eye's selectiveness. The human eye is more sensitive to green and yellow colours.

Candlepower is a measure of brightness that is adjusted to the selective sensitivity of the human eye.

Incandescence is the release or emission of radiation that makes a heated body visible. The incandescent bulb uses “soda lime” glass. This is a soft glass that cannot allow large differences in temperature. Incandescent bulbs are not expensive, they have a short life and use a lot of electricity.

Neon is a discharge source. Neon bulbs have low pressure gas inside. They need a high voltage.

HID (High Intensity Discharge) are “mercury vapour” lights. Mercury vapour lights are efficient and used in commercial landscaping.

Another technology, LED (Light Emitting Diode) is used for lighting applications. LED's are electronic devices that allow electricity to travel in only one direction. They emit light when an electric current passes through them. LED's are monochromatic and produce little light. They have a long life. They produce much more heat. White LED's are false white.

Is light bulb technology a potent object? Which technology is potent? What is the relation between technology and society?

This section will demonstrate how technology shapes society.

Technology is shaped by the society. Technological systems have more influence on society as they develop momentum. Technological systems are social and technical; they can be both a cause and effect. Technological systems become more deterministic over time. An example of a technological system is the computer industry. In the early days of the computer industry, many technological systems emerged that reflected different human choices.

Technology shapes economic choices and this shapes history. If technology has no essential features, then it should not have systematic effects, and if it does not have systematic effects, then it cannot determine the structure of the social world. To my way of thinking, technology should have effects so that it can determine the structure of the world.

Technological momentum is essentially a movement that embraces all of western culture. In western culture, men and women became the tools of technology. Tools are designed to meet particular human needs.

What are the consequences of technology? How does technology influence society? Are we proposing technological solutions to problems? Is technology shaped by social concerns? These are some of the questions that arise into my mind.

I believe that technology has to be deterministic. Technology has not intended consequences. It excludes certain possibilities.

I think that LED technology of light bulbs is a potent object. LED bulbs are rising in markets and incandescent bulbs are being banned. Light bulb development requires specialization in the areas of qualifications, management development, professional development, and personal development.

Light bulb communication requires a team of experts who do different jobs such as brochures for light bulb advertisement, reports, websites, graphic designing, journal writing, etc. They execute the marketing plan, manage budgets, and create concepts.

How do light bulb experts communicate? How do they reach the truth?

It is my common belief that experts know better than investigators. Experts have theoretical knowledge and self-interest. They prefer to think of their work as contributing to the well-being of others.

The light bulb's relation to culture suggests that I find out more about how light bulbs work and what science is behind them.

Light has a connection with our senses. Because of light, we are able to see.
