We’re all about the high school drama girl drama girl all about them high school queens…

It’s been almost 10 years since One Tree Hill ended. While some might say it lost its spark a few seasons earlier no one can deny the magic that came from the characters Lucas, Nathan, Haley, Peyton, and Brooke had. 9 seasons and a few time jumps follow the characters through high school through the first 4 seasons, and their lives after college in seasons 5-9.

While now we have an all-new way to enjoy the show. Since June 21, 2021, Hilarie Burton Morgan (Peyton), Bethany Joy Lenz (Haley), and Sophia Bush (Brooke) hosted a podcast called Drama Queens where they discuss an episode they watched, give behind the scenes info, and reunite with some of the other stars of the show. They also break down some of the problems that they faced, especially by the creator of the show, and the negative aspects of the storylines themselves calling characters out for negative behaviors. For example, Lucas’s treatment of Brooke and how he was gaslighting her at some points during season one.

If by chance you have never seen the show and started up with the podcast because the ladies are hilarious beware of spoilers. While Hilarie, Joy, and Sophia do focus each podcast episode on a show episode they do mention parts of the show that happen later. So, while they encourage their audience and fans to watch the show episode before the podcast episode, it works best if you are already familiar with the whole show and the plotlines.

Some of the funniest or most interesting things that we learn about:

When a woman attacked Paul Johansson (Dan Scott) on the street for being a ‘bad dad’. Sophia recounts about a time when they were walking on the street together and a woman started attacking Paul with her purse, while lecturing him. They talk about how shocking it was that the lady would feel allowed to do that because of she was a small woman and Paul is a large guy and how she was punishing an actor for being good at portraying his character. She also acknowledged the grace Paul had in his response to it by not lecturing the woman or embarrassing her. (Also, Paul wanted to be a priest at one point in his life?)

Joy had a crush on Craig Sheffer (Keith Scott) and how Sheffer was shocked by his character’s death. Joy: “Years later, I had kind of gotten over my crush with him and we were at dinner and Paul, who loves seeing people in awkward, uncomfortable situations it’s just pure comedy to him so, true to Paul, he goes, ‘Hey, Sheff, you know Joy had a massive crush on you. She was in love with you, I just turned beet red.”

How awkward kissing scenes could be—especially when taking the actor’s actual ages into account. Hilarie explained that her and James kissing scenes in the beginning were very weird, especially considering James wasn’t even 18 while Hilarie was 21.

What real businesses and spots that you need to visit in Wilmington, North Carolina. I know I have a trip upcoming very soon and I can’t wait to see all the spots. (They also plead with the community that if you are going to visit to please be respectful of the location houses and those who live with them. They shouldn’t have to deal with fans invading their property and privacy.)

You can listen to Drama Queens on all major podcast platforms.
