The Monthly Future Scoop with Ella Star Jones - May 20th, 2000

Good day to you, lovelies! I hope you took my advice to heart and weathered the capricious Taurus in good health and prosperity. As always, you don't need to go further than this column to ensure a smooth transition to the next millennium.

(We covered this in the December issue, but it merits mentioning again that - contrary to pop culture - because the 1st century was retroactively said to start with the year AD 1 in the Gregorian calendar (and since said calendar does not have the year 0), the first millennium spanned from year 1 to 1000 inclusively and its second - you guessed it - from 1001 to 2000. You're welcome!)

Now let's get down to business and see what is in the cards for you perky Gemini.

Love

Not gonna lie, it's going to be a bumpy ride. You would be best served to lay low and avoid getting involved in new relationships, the odds aren't in your favor for the time. Best you focus on a celebrity crush, they're mostly harmless unless you fall off the bandwagon. Don't.

Gladiator has just premiered on the 1st of May, so why no just swoon at Russel's Crowe magnetic performance, hypnotic gaze, and wonderful deep voice? Those muscles are not sore on the eyes either. Mark my words, the hunky New Zeelander will surely garner the attention of the Academy Awards, besides stealing our hearts.

If you fancy something on the younger side, N'Sync's Justin Timberlake is blooming quite nicely, hinting at major heartthrob status in the future. After all, there must be a reason Britney can't keep her hands off him. The guy might just bring sexy back to the boyband genre and we can only be thankful for that.

Honorable mentions: Craig David (that voice is melting mama's pant heart), John Stamos (now that's a hunk you can bring home to your parents), Pierce Brosnan (poetry with a hint of danger, just what the star(s) ordered) and, of course, Brad Pitt (the Universe's gift to humanity, about whom we'll discuss more later).

Money

makes the world go round, but not for you. Not yet anyway. There's a cloudy storm on the horizon for you Gemini, so better stay put. And by any means, do not invest in Enron shares, despite the appeal. I know, I know, the predictions are they're gonna soon pass $90 per share, but if you want my advice (and I know you do), be cautious and avoid big spendings. The sky will clear again soon. In the meantime, focus on inexpensive hobbies.

Leisure

If you're able to shift your attention for a moment from how cute Brad and Jen look together (and OMG, their babies will be so precious), it may be time to try that Sims video game everyone's talking about. I'm predicting big success for this one, so why not try your hand at controlling the day-to-day lives of virtual people ("Sims"). The poor guys need direction and a sense of purpose, in order to have their needs met and live their lives efficiently. Explore new worlds, live a little, and help them out in the process. Be generous.

If music is your thing, better keep your eye (and ears) on Destiny's Child. Ever since Michelle Williams joined the group and turned it into a trio, the winds of change shifted and I predict new heights of glory for the three children of destiny. Especially for that Beyonce girl, she really looks like a winner. Watch out for her.

And did I mention Craig David? Do me a favor and listen to "Fill me in". You can thank me later.

Movie-wise, you have plenty to choose from. Memento will launch in a few days and dare I say, it will blow your mind. With a groundbreaking nonlinear structure and masterful performance from Guy Pierce as the leading man, it's just the film for a smart Gemini like yourself.

Another one is the John Cusack-led High Fidelity, a film with a lot of heart and soul, which will have you discussing your preferance in music for a long time. Be sure to pay attention to newcomer Jack Black, the kid has spunk.

Last but not least is American Psycho, a jarring thriller (not for the weak-hearted) that will definitely put its star Christian Bale on the map.

Honorable mentions (for later in the year): Cast Away (hellooo, Tom Hanks!), X-Men (for current geeks and legions who will surely join ranks), and maybe Mission Impossible II (if you're craving some action).

Or just keep watching Friends. You can never go wrong with that.

Zodiac compatibility

You, my dear Gemini, are warm and giving by nature. Smart, adaptable, curious, and highly creative, you're capable of great things when you stop being your worst enemy. Let go of fear and self-doubt and stretch those glorious wings, see how they feel, and spread that positive energy to the other signs. Take my word. We're all compatible if we choose to be so.

Faithfully,

Ella Star Jones
