Doctor Stone is one of the famous ongoing anime right now. The anime contains a good and unique story as well. A few weeks earlier Dr. Stone: Stone Wars was on the top of the trending anime. So why has Doctor Stone anime become so popular and people get addicted to it? Let's find out.

Before Jumping into the reasons. Let's talk about anime and manga history. Here are the manga details

Manga

Just like other anime, Doctor Stone also originated from the manga. What's interesting is the writer and the illustrator. The writer is Riichiro Inagaki who is a Japanese guy. On the other hand, the illustrator is Boichi who is a South Korean guy. It's rare to find a Japanese writer working with a South Korean illustrator. Because South Koreans usually don't work in the Japanese manga industry that much. Anyway, Shueisha has published this manga series in Weekly Shonen Jump magazine since March 2017. The manga has a total of twenty tankobon volumes till the time I'm writing the post. There's another version of the manga series as well. The name of the manga is Dr. Stone Reboot: Byakuya. It was written by Boichi himself. Shueisha has also published this manga. Both versions of the manga were licensed by Viz Media to release in the English language. The story follows Senku Ishigami, who plans to rebuild civilization after humanity was mysteriously petrified for 3,700 years.

If we take a look into sales, in January 2021, The Dr. Stone manga crossed over 8.4 million copies. This manga also won the 64th Shogakukan Manga Award for the shōnen category.

Anime

After one year of successful manga releases, the story came to anime on July 5, 2019. TMS/8PAN produced the anime episodes. Shinya Iino directed the anime and Yuichiro Kido wrote the anime story (more like, modified it to fit in the anime). Dr Stone has a total of 2 seasons right now. Second is ongoing right now. The first season has 24 episodes total. Surprisingly both seasons are available in english sub and dub as well. You can watch Dr Stone Season 1 english dub on Funimation. Second season is completed. It was aired from January to March 2021. Doctor Stone: Stone Wars english dub and sub are also available for this anime on Funimation.

Plot

The story takes place in a world where humanity is petrified of something. It was done by a mysterious flash. The time was April 5738 CE. It's been almost 3700 years since the incident. Senku Ishigami suddenly finds himself to be survived and he also finds out that human civilization has been erased by time. Senku Ishigami is a 15 years old genius boy. He suddenly takes action and sets up a base camp for the surviving humans and tries to determine the cause of the events.

Over the next six months, Senku's friend Taiji Oki wakes up and Senku learns that the revival is made possible with nitric acid. After getting this idea, they develop a compound that will help them to revive other people as well. They start their revival process with a martial artist named Tsukasa Shishio and their classmate Yuzuriha Ogawa who is Taiju's crush. Their ultimate goal is to rebuild human civilization with a focus on science.

This is the story that is all about till now. As I don't want to spoil your excitement towards this anime.
