Lucasfilm; The Book Of Boba Fett

Fair warning to those who for whatever reason may have not seen the most recent episode of The Book Of Boba Fett (and friends): spoilers ahead! With that out of the way none other than the infamous Cad Bane has made his return to the Star Wars small screen & what an entrance it was! He blasted everybody's favorite marshall Cobb Vanth & his not so bright deputy before making a cool smooth exit. It's no doubt the finale of The Book Of Boba Fett is going to be huge as the last episode pretty much ended with the Pykes starting the war by blowing up Madam Garsa's club in Mos Espa. So with the introudction of Cad Bane & the potential possibilty of more friendly faces coming to help Boba in his fight, I've compiled a list of episodes which I think would be good viewing going into the finale. Whether you're rewatching these episodes or just looking for more back story, these should all be enjoyable regardless!

Holocron Heist, Cargo of Doom, & Children of the Force

Lucasfilm; The Clone Wars "Holocron Heist" S2:01

Starting off this list is Cad Bane's first introduction to a galaxy far, far away in The Clone Wars. Bane goes on a three episode mission cementing himself as one of the most ruthless bounty hunters in all the galaxy. It gets rather intense as he goes as far as kindapping force sensitive children to bring to mustafar & even torturing a Jedi to death. He's not to be toyed with & most who cross his path do not make it out alive.

Of note as well, Cad Bane is one of the few bounty hunters to have taken a job directly from Darth Sidious himself. Considering his recent jab toward Boba Fett working for the Empire, it's quite ironic.

Death Trap, R2 Come Home, & Lethal Trackdown

Lucasfilm; The Clone Wars "Death Trap" S2:20

It's easy to argue anything Boba related coud've been watched at any point previously but I find his episodes in The Clone Wars particularly interesting because of the company he keeps & who we've yet to see in The Book Of Boba Fett. In his first outting in The Clone Wars, closing out the end of season 2, Boba seeks revenge against the Jedi Master who killed his father. With the help of some of his father's friends he hatches a plan to kill Mace Windu.

Lucasfilm; The Clone Wars "R2 Come Home" S2:21

In what we obviously know was a failed attempt we get to see Boba surrounded by familair faces like Bossk & Aurra Sing, & also joined by a short lived Castas. We get to see another side of Boba, one that is grieving his father & very obviously placing his trust in the wrong people while dealing with his grief. He also eventually crosses paths with beloved pirate Hondo Ohnaka who reminds him about his father Jango & doing the honorable thing.

In regards to characters who may make a return in the finale, I wouldn't doubt Bossk potentially showing up as he's been an ally to Boba since he was a kid even going as far to protect him while they were in prison together. With how far Lucasfilm has come with live action trandoshans, given previous episodes of the series, it would be a shame not to bring back Bossk to help his old friend. Aurra obviously won't be making a return as Tobias Beckett pushed her & she died from the fall.

The Box

Lucasfilm; The Clone Wars "The Box" S4:17

In probably one of the best episodes of The Clone Wars Master Jedi Obi-Wan Kenobi is undercover as a bounty hunter & has just broken out of prison with none other than Cad Bane. They make their way to Serenno, the home planet of Count Dooku, to take part a game of skill & death called The Box. Along with them are an array of other hunters to compete with. Before the event even begins Bane slays another hunter just to swap take their hat.

Lucasfilm; The Clone Wars "The Box" S4:17

Albeit Cad Bane is as callous as ever, we get to see him in an entirely different atmosphere than at any other point in the series. That is all really due to the growing comradery between him & Obi-Wan's Rako Hardeen. Cad goes as far to save him when someone else tries to kill him in a cowardly way.

Bounty

Lucasfilm; The Clone Wars "Bounty" S4:20

In Boba's next big outting in The Clone Wars series we find him on Tattooine with some familair & new faces. Bossk makes a return to Boba's side & even Dengar makes his debut in the series. Assaj Ventress is also along for the ride as she slayed one of the group's hunters in Mos Eisley. We have a slightly older Boba here & it's easy to see he's beginning to grow into the ruthless hunter we all know he becomes. It's a very good episode & also features Boba Fett's first set of armor & what look to be Jango's dual blasters.

Lucasfilm; The Clone Wars "Bounty" S4:20

Bounty Lost

Lucasfilm; The Bad Batch "Bounty Lost" S1:09

This last episode is of The Bad Batch following Fennec's taking of Omega. At an abandoned Kaminoan facility she faces off against Cad Bane who's also there for bloody business so there's plenty of history between these two that should really lead up to something good in the finale.

Lucasfilm; The Bad Batch "Bounty Lost" S1:09

Another note on this episode is it also canonizes an arc in an unused The Clone Wars episode in which Cad Bane & Boba Fett eventually duel. This leaves Boba with the dent in his helmet & finally explains where he got it & Boba also gets a shot off on Cad Bane who we can see above is sporting a metal plate where the blaster struck him. These two certainly have history & with the theory that Cad Bane is the one who wiped out Boba's found family the Tuskens, it will undoubtedly be the last duel one of these men ever has. Below you can find the unfinished clip from the unused episode where the two hunters dueled.

This was my list of recommended watching before The Book Of Boba Fett finale. Whether or not you've watched The Clone Wars or The Bad Batch before these episodes should be enjoyable regardless! All episodes of both series are availble to stream on Disney+.
