What of Time?

Time is measureless and immeasurable

The Elusiveness of Time

Does time literally exist, or is it perhaps simply a human construct? Does time exist only within the lit consciousness of the human mind and then simply dwindle, melt away, gradually disappearing into the darkness of sleep and unconsciousness?

Do the stars scattered across the heavens, or space itself, contemplate time? Is time a necessary element involving their existence, purpose and contribution to the overall big picture? Do other species comprehend time?

Time, as with all other measuring tools, appears to be an asset in our everyday lives. It aids in the scheduling of our daily activities, the planning of future events, etc. It allows for remembrance and to contemplate what future possibilities may be.

To put it into perspective, the past is imbedded in between the pages of the mind, awareness can only be experienced instantaneously, and the future remains a mystery. Upon that particular observation, the only real time that is actively experienced is in true time, a constant which is harnessed within and can only occur in a particular moment, the here and now, rendering the past and future irrelevant.

Though it is said that time changes everything, everything within nature just simply changes. For example, I am a far cry from what I was at infancy to what I have become today. But considering the amount of time that has elapsed, it seems to me that the changes occurred within a single moment.

The whole of nature need not be concerned with time. Nature simply exists in all its beauty, imperfections and profoundness within a perfect, universal rhythmic energetic frequency, as do we.

An astronomer once asked, "Master, what of time?" And he answered: You would measure time measureless and deem it the immeasurable.

You would adjust your conduct and even the course of your spirit according to hours and seasons. Of time, you would make a stream upon whose banks you would sit and watch it flowing.

Yet, the timeless in you is aware of life's timelessness, and knows that yesterday is but today's memory and tomorrow is but today's dream. And that which sings and contemplates within you is still dwelling within the bounds of that first moment which scattered the stars across space.

Who among you does not feel that his power to love is boundless? And yet, who does not feel that very love, though boundless, encompassed within the center of his being, and moving not from love thought to love thought, nor from love deeds to other love deeds? And is not time even as love is, undivided and pace less?

But if in your thoughts you must measure time into seasons, let each season encircle all other seasons, the way nature encircles itself. And let today embrace the past with remembrance and the future with longing.

Is time merely a metaphoric illusion? Let's use a metaphoric theory using the metaphor of a moving spotlight that slides along the temporal dimension, brightly illuminating just one moment of time, the present, while the future is a foggy region of potential and the past is a shadowy realm of what has been. Since all within existence is merely a part of one singularity, it would be safe to speculate that is why we can only experience existence one minute at a time.

After writing this, from now on when anyone asks me what time zone I am in, or in how many time zones have I traveled, my answer will be one, the moment, the here and now. Perhaps the only place time exists is within the human consciousness.

Therefore, steadfastly remain where you have always been and always will remain., in the nano-second, (one billionth of a second), the constant, the here and now.
