We Are Who We Are, Are We?

Libras definitely need a new Standard Bearer

Forget Lady Justice or Astraea, Libras deserve ‘The Thinker’

We are who we are, are we? Why then do I post ‘The Thinker’ in chaos vice ‘Lady Justice’ the patron saint of all Libras? Is that classic Libra indecision or is stoicism reminding us no decision is in fact a decision.

Astraea appeared before Lady Justice. Astraea dispensed justice with her sword and scales in ancient Greece. According to Ovid, she was so repulsed by human wickedness she finally returned to Heaven. Her constellation forms Virgo for her virginity but is linked to Libra for her Justice.

Libra was derived by the Romans from the front claws of the constellation Scorpius circa 2 Century AD. ‘The Scales’ were associated with trade initially since measuring is an essential part of trade since ancient times. The Romans loved making new gods and goddesses. They associated the sign with the Roman Goddess of Justice which has remained blind to this day. Little did I know this was a Roman invention conceived and embellished by astrology.

Libra is fundamentally the most important sign given so much of our lives revolve around and constantly seek balance and justice as humans, nature and the oldest rhythms of life. Man’s progress disrupted these balances the ancients worshipped.

Blind Justice alone tees up debate and cases throughout history. While our Nation’s founders laid it as a major cornerstone of our Constitution, it has been widely abused claiming righteousness was preserved since our founding.

Rational thinking has become a lost art in this world of electronic chaos. Does “The Thinker” stare down at his phone or tablet? Tablet has a whole new meaning today. His eyes are closed like Lady Justice seeking the right answer which may not suit the audience, judge and worse tip the scales for eternity with the jury. The stain of injustice forever made public newer saves the present but is left for future debates about this author, “The Thinker”, who presented this case to “Lady Justice”.

Justice like Equality is a myth found often on paper or media but rarely evident in a not so perfect union. Media does hammer it home far better than past editorials lost in history’s trash can. It’s why I promote ‘The Thinker’ over ‘Lady Justice’.

‘Lady Justice’ has been blind far too long throughout history. Tipping her scales to satisfy whims has been her downfall in my humble opinion as the Libra figurehead.

Librans can indeed make colossal blunders. Take for instance the Libra Presidents Eisenhower and Carter. Wow. Talk about Polar Opposites. Ike learned very hard lessons failing to catch Pancho Villa. Ike was the only General elected in the 20th Century. He is the only POTUS in the 20th Century to give us eight years of peace and prosperity.

I like Jimmy Carter for all his faults he is a true Christian and still helps the disadvantaged today. His sweat equity program for building ownership into every home built by Habitat for Humanity is unique leadership that is witnessed in ex-Presidents.

While Librans have strong mentors from our past that have shaped the world especially in Justice, an odd assortment emerged: Gandhi, Friedrich Nietzsche, Vlad Putin, Maggie Thatcher, Virgil, Ayatollah Khomeini, Bonnie Parker, Alfred Nobel, Serena Williams, john Lennon, Horatio Nelson, Jean Lefite, Augustus Caesar, Ray Charles, Mickey Mantle, Oscar Wilde, and Lee Harvey Oswald. This is my list pulled from many lists. I did spare us the Serial Killers and Famous Nazis list which is pretty much one and the same.

Libras are supposed to trend to Justice and Truth seekers who go to great ends to ensure fair treatment for others. True or False based on my list? I don’t see a famous judge, lawyer or jurist on this list.

This list of notable Libras questions all the nonsense found in astrology readings concerning Libras. Doesn’t it?

Friedrich Nietzsche, Virgil, Gandhi, Eisenshower, Carter, Oscar Wilde, and TS Elliot are proof positive Libras deserve a different standard bearer.

The Thinker!

So now we’ve come full circle. We are who we are, are we?
