They were four days from the capitol of Genuous, Racker and his sidekick Suqqu, she's become more like a partner over the past 5 years. It was a good life well maybe not so much good but a very profitable life. The leader of their home state has paid them handsomely to dispatch his enemies and the two of them were the best at what they did.

Suqqu, his little mage, would drug the target's drink or food and then Racker would dispose of the target. At barely 3 inches tall, Suqqu could always get into places undetected. But at that size she was nowhere strong enough to hold a weapon, and she didn't yet know how to cast any offensive spells. When the day came that she did, Racker wondered if he would outlive his usefulness to her.

"Don't be silly," the beautiful Pandor said as she scurried out of his shirt pocket and climbed up onto his shoulder to whisper in his ear. "You forget what I owe you don't you?"

A momentary lapse of memory, he forgot that the Pandor are telepathic, but how could he forget what she owed him? He rescued her from one of those glue pads used to exterminate rodents. And Pandor never growing more than 5 inches tall often got caught on them. Most humans didn't care, the Pandor were seen as pestilent rodents like mice and rats.

"No I remember rescuing you," Racker said.

"I will do everything I can to come up with spells that will keep you alive as long as I will live."

An intriguing thought for the human male as Suqqu gave him a kiss on the cheek. Human lifespan is about 80 years, whereas the Pandor natural lifespan, assuming one doesn't get caught on the glue pad, or eaten by predators like snakes or rats, is approximately 500 years. And a rat is to the Pandor what a great white shark is to a human.

His tiny little friend skirted back down his chest and made herself comfortable in his pocket. Within a couple minutes he heard the soft breathing telling him she was asleep. With it getting late he climbed the steps to the inn paid for a room for the night, went in took his shirt off and laid it on the counter. It would not be good for Suqqu if he were to roll over onto his chest while sleeping, that would squish his little friend and then he’d be alone once again.

As he lay down on the bed, he thought of how great it would be if Suqqu could create a spell that would make her either human or human size, but that would cause the little creature to lose her charm. That and he’d had enough of the heartbreak that came with human females. And could he bring a child into this life he led?

Racker realized he’d better cut these thoughts out, while she was telepathic, did her telepathy work while sleeping? Better not find out.

When they woke the next morning, Racker put twenty seeds on the table for Suqqu, she squealed her gratitude as he set her down in front of her food, the tiny female happily munched on her food as Racker changed his clothes.

“I presume you’re eating your breakfast in the tavern?” she asked.

He gave his little friend a smile and confirmed he would. As soon as she finished her food, he scooped her up in his hand and put her in his shirt pocket, left the room, went to the tavern and ordered his breakfast.
