Top 10 facts about Moon

The Moon, the 5th largest natural satellite of the Solar System, is closest to the Earth. About 3,84,365 km from Earth, the surface of the Moon is uneven its diameter is 3,476 km and the mass is about 1/8 of the mass of the Earth. Like the Earth, its path of revolution is also elliptical. Its light reflected from the Sun takes 1.3 seconds to reach the Earth.

(1). Moon is not a planet, it is a satellite: There is a difference between a planet and a satellite. Moon is a satellite of Earth. Similarly, Saturn, Jupiter, and Pluto also have satellites i.e. moon. According to scientists, there are satellites larger than the moon, of which the largest is located near the planet Jupiter, Kalisto. Apart from this, Titan and Eo of Saturn are also bigger than the Moon. Moon is also called a fossil planet.

(2). How the Moon Formed: The Moon was formed from the remnants of the debris created by a massive collision between Earth and Theia (a planet the size of Mars) about 45 million years ago. This debris first kept moving in the Earth's orbit and then gradually gathered in one place and turned into the shape of the moon. Examination of the stones brought by the Apollo astronauts has shown that there is no difference between the ages of the Moon and the Earth. Titanium content has been found in its rocks.

(3). What is on the Moon: There is a possibility of a very unstable and light atmosphere on the rough surface of the Moon and there has been evidence of the presence of water in the solid form here. However, according to scientists, it is an atmosphere less satellite. According to NASA's LADEE project, it is made up of helium, neon, and argon gases. The largest mountain on the Moon is Mount Leibnitz at the South Pole, which is 35,000 feet (10,668 m) high.

(4). How is the Moon's atmosphere: The atmosphere here is very calm, but there are huge fluctuations in temperature here. A cloud of dust hovers over the surface of the Moon during sunrise and sunset. According to scientists, one reason for this may be the electrically charged molecules. This happens only in the direction of the Sun. The dust here is sticky, due to which the instruments of scientists get spoiled. If an astronaut goes there, the dust will quickly stick to his clothes, and then it is difficult to remove it.

On the other hand, the dust field behind the moon is called Shantisagar, which is dark. The moon completes 1 revolution of the earth in about 27 days and 8 hours and at the same time does one rotation on its axis. This is the reason that only one side of the moon is always visible.

(5). Gravitational power is less: The gravitational force of the Moon is less than that of the Earth, so the weight of man there decreases by about 16.5 percent. If there is a reason the person can jump there easily. The Moon has a gravity of 1.62 m/s². Although gravity is different everywhere. The Moon has the force of gravity, only then does it has the ability to generate tides in the Earth's ocean.

(6). One day the moon will be hidden forever: Scientists express the possibility that the moon is becoming 3.78 cm away from the earth every year. At a certain distance, the Moon will take 47 days instead of 28 days to orbit the Earth. It can also be feared that if the moon becomes more distant in this way, then the gravitational force of the earth and away from the orbit can be lost somewhere in space. In such a situation, the day on earth will be left for only 6 hours. Mean the rest of the time will be night?

(7). Black Sky: The sky appears blue and white to us from the earth, then it is because there is more than 70 percent water on the earth, which is reflected. Due to the presence of such a large amount of water, the earth's atmosphere is also clean and clean. But this is not the case on the moon. There the dust keeps flying and the water is somewhere in solid form. In such a situation, the sky appears black most of the time.

(8). Seeing the Earth from the Moon: On the full moon day, we see the moon big and beautiful. It has a very bright white color. Means a bright moon. Only 57% of the Moon can be seen from Earth. But when you stand on the moon and look at the earth, it will appear about 45 times brighter and blue than the full moon, and also that it will also appear 4 times larger than its original size. This means that if you see the earth from the moon, then all the songs, poems, and songs that have been written on the moon till now will all fade in front of the earth.

(9). The opposite happens during an eclipse: The solar and lunar eclipse that we see on the earth, if we see it from the moon, then the opposite will be seen. This means that if there is a lunar eclipse on the earth, then there will be a solar eclipse on the moon. In such a situation, if there is a solar eclipse on the earth, then there will be an earth eclipse or lunar eclipse on the moon?

(10). Moonstones on Earth: 3 small stones brought from the moon were auctioned last year in New York, USA. In the auction, these stones were sold for 8 lakh 50 thousand dollars (about Rs 6 crore). These were achieved during the Russian Luna-16 mission sent to the Moon in 1970. Initially, it was held by the wife of the then Soviet Union's late director of space program Sergei Pavlovic Korolev. These were first auctioned in 1993. It is said that Neil Armstrong also brought stones from the moon.
