Tools that change for the better... or worse.
smartphones are the greatest invention but also runs mylife.
I'm unsure what I would do with my iPhone. I've come to learn how to use my iPhone to the point where it helps me keep my life on track.
Having a journal, clock/timers, reminders, notes, books, and the internet in the palm of my hand makes a difference in my day-to-day life.
The ability to have everything in the palm of my hand does improve my life, but at the same time, I forget that the outside world exists and that life exists beyond the device.
Smartphones don't really feel real. It feels too scientific, something you see in movies or on television.
Even though it does make my life easier, I tend to depend on the device way too much. I think everyone can, in some way, shape or form, agree. It's both a blessing and a curse.
I envy the people who can put the devices down when the devices serve their purpose. Use the device for its intended purpose of enhancing life, not as a scapegoat for doomscrolling when bored.
People, myself included, tend to hide behind their devices rather than live. It's difficult to live life to the fullest when you always hide yourself and keep yourself locked up all the time.
I miss the times spent at a park or beachside with a book and not a care in the world,
Now it's all about horrible crimes and wars.
What's the point of going to touch grass when the grass isn't even good for you?
Hard to leave the house because when you do, you end up in high-crime areas, or trashy neighbourhoods or have to spend the gas money to go to a decentish area.
Making it easier and safer to stay in. Nothing better to do than just doomscroll.
Smartphones really do feel like technology from a sci-fi movie. First they start as very useful and convenient, and then they become soul-sucking devices.
Literally rots your brain out, with added disrupted sleep, doing nothing but scrolling, stumbling across health pages, getting off the phone to work out, but always end up right back to the screen three days later.
Phones are known to constantly loop dopamine to keep you trapped in the endless cycle.
Smartphones are both a blessing and a curse. If used correctly, a smartphone can change your life for the better. If you use it incorrectly, you will rot away, and life as you know it will continue without you. By the time you look up, everything has changed; you've missed many beautiful moments in your life.
Sure, you can use the smartphone to help you record life, but if you spend every moment running to record everything, you will miss the beautiful moments in between.
Hence why you will hear people say, 'Things were better before these damn phones.'
Because it was; I have better, more meaningful memories before smartphones took over the world. I envy the people who are not addicted to their phones. Who forget they even have one.
Humans rely too much on them, which, in a way, makes people stupid. Even though smartphones are supposed to assist, guide, and make things easier for humans. Smartphones are supposed to help organize one's life, especially in today's world, where everyone is on the go.
What is the secret of using a smartphone correctly? Deleting games, apps and anything else that distracts us from what's right in front of us. If you need something to help you keep busy during downtime, have something that stimulates your brain. Do something more productive, using the smartphone to enhance life.
