This 'Star Wars' Fan Made A Massive Real Life Razor Crest

The Razor Crest has become such a fan favorite ship among viewers of The Mandalorian ever since it made its debut in the very first episode of the series. Din Djarin has flown it to various places, both before and during his travels with Grogu, the Force-sensitive child whom he tries to protect and bring to the people with whom he belongs. And while the Razor Crest may not be as iconic as the Millennium Falcon, it has still gotten a lot of love. In fact, one fan in particular went out of his way to build a life-size replica of the Razor Crest.

This fan actually resides in Yakutsk, Russia, and his name is Ayaal Fedorov. In his own words, translated below:

"We watched the first season of The Mandalorian with the guys. I was eager to build the starship of The Mandalorian because it is the primary transport. I got hooked."

Of course, Fedorov knew that such a big project would require the help of many hands.

"At first, I spent my money, then a friend helped me out. He sold his car, it's crazy. Close to the end, the sponsors got in touch and helped us."

"Our Instagram followers helped us. When we called for assistance, they helped us raise the needed funds."

“The Yakutsk IT park, a [local] private company, helped us rent a hangar, the only place where the structure could fit.”

The construction of this replica ended up taking over a year to complete. Images of the construction process were posted by Federov on Instagram during that time. The model for the Razor Crest in The Mandalorian series is 2 feet long (with computer generated imagery being uses to assist in certain shots), whereas this life size recreation is 45 feet long.

"Lots of people write us, congratulate us on ending the work. When we were just starting they laughed at us a bit. But now, when it all ended, all the difficulties ended, lots of people get in touch, write us to congratulate us."

This replica is now on display at the local park. One of the park visitors, Aysen Tikhonov, had the following to comment:

"I like how it's almost identical. Seeing it live is much cooler than on photos."

Just as people have been able to experience what it is like to see the Millennium Falcon up close at Galaxy's Edge, it must be gratifying for many to see this Razor Crest replica up close. Star Wars has long been a dream put to the screen, fueling more dreams within the fans. And just as Lucasfilm has brought some stuff from that universe to life, so have the fans, whether it be through impressive Lego sets or big replicas such as this one. Those who have seen season 2 of The Mandalorian witnessed the destruction of the Razor Crest. Thankfully, it still lives on in the form of this replica.
