'The Mandalorian' Season 3 To Start Filming Next Month
Soon!
The Mandalorian season 2 is set to premiere October 30. It is so close that I will not even joke about it being too far away. After all, it is coming out next week! The lack of spoiler-filled details in the marketing has been great on Disney and Lucasfilm's parts. It keeps the show mysterious so that the viewers can be surprised about what is to come.
Of course, it is no secret that after season 2, we will be getting season 3. With how smoothly the show has been going and how positive the reception has been, it is no surprise that the show is just going to keep on moving. As per The Direct, we have learned that Skyler Shuler, the editor in chief over at DisInsider, has tweeted some details about the show's third season. First, he shared the working title for season 3:
"The working title for The Mandalorian season 3 is BUCCANEER!
Now, give me those space pirates!"
I for one would also love to see for space pirates. In fact, I have been saying for a while that what we need is a Star Wars movie about pirates. This is sure to fuel speculation of seeing such familiar characters as Hondo Ohnaka or the Crimson Corsair, but nothing is set in stone. Perhaps the production title could simply be a reference to the adventurous tone of the season.
Additionally, Shuler posted a tweet saying that November would be when filming for season 3 commences.
This might seem very soon to some, but it is not that out of the ordinary. After all, Star Trek: Discovery season 3 has just started, and the production crew is already aiming to begin production on season 4 November 2. We have also heard Jon Favreau say that the goal is for season 3 of The Mandalorian to start filming before the end of the year. There are not many options in terms of possible months, so November seems like a good bet.
As I have said before, it is very reassuring to know that all of this production is still happening at a pretty good pace. Safety and good health comes first, obviously, but the use of masks on the series makes all of that much easier. With the delays of theatrical films from pretty much every studio, it is at least nice to know that television still has some good content on the way.
The Mandalorian season 2 is just about a week away from premiering. For now, this is the season with which we will be occupied. But again, it is nice to know that season 3 will be on its way afterward. Even though the film side of the franchise is a bit of a question mark at the moment, the future of the television side of the franchise seems to be pretty safe. There will still be more Star Wars for us to enjoy.
