"The Mandalorian" is Perfect.

Why Disney's "The Mandalorian is so Satisfying to Watch.

There is absolutely nothing NOT to like about Disney's "The Mandalorian" on Disney Plus. It literally checks all the boxes. The show manages to be gritty without being too dark, while making you feel all warm and fuzzy without being cheesy. It's scientifically designed to psychologically push all the right buttons. A badass bounty hunter battles to save an adorable, force wielding, Baby Yoda from what's left of the Imperial forces.

There's been a lot of talk lately, especially around the release of "Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker" about film makers "pandering to the fans". At the risk of not sounding jaded enough for angry twitter, what the hell is actually wrong with wanting to please your audience? If we've gotten to the point where the internet won't even allow the Star Wars franchise to entertain its fans and give them what they want, we're in real trouble. It's almost like audiences have become so negative that they often don't recognize something great, even when it hits them right in the face. Think about it, say it again, out loud, "fans are getting upset that film-makers are giving them exactly what they want". Let me just say, for the record, "Not me".

I love everything about the show, it's funny, light hearted at times while simultaneously taking itself just seriously enough. There's a reason the Avengers films did so well, and it's the same reason that everyone loves Mando and Baby Yoda. Jon Favreau infuses a little bit of magic into everything he creates. Oh, and it's the same secret ingredient that the DC universe was missing; it's called "Fun". I can't believe I have to say this, but let me reassure you, I know that world is a messed up place right now and that things may appear to be getting worse, however, "It is OK to have fun when you're watching TV."

Even as I write, I can already hear the angry bloggers, who are not having fun, by the way, mounting their defence about how the last thing we need is another fanboy article about how awesome "The Mandalorian" is. Well, I'm here to tell you that you're wrong. It is exactly what we need right now, just like "The Mandalorian".

I've noticed another disturbing trend in the past ten years, that is, Audiences have all of a sudden come to expect every film to be a cross genre masterpiece with long, complicated character arcs AND nonstop, mind blowing action sequences. Again, hate to break it you, but you can't have both. I remember being shocked back in 2007 at how critics had the audacity to complain about the lack of character development in films like "Transformers" or the reboot of "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles". More recently, Martin Scorsese was unfortunately very vocal about his opinion about Marvel films not being considered cinema. Can we all just please take a deep breath and a big step back and remember how to enjoy movies for what they are again. No one expected "National Lampoon's: Christmas Vacation" or "Johnny Dangerously" to win an Academy award, but those films have their place and are entertaining goddamn it. To sum it up, media come in all shapes and sizes and audiences are free to watch whatever the hell they like, just please stop tweeting that HBO's "Ballers" needs to be more like "Succession" and vice versa. Stop looking for more fight scenes in "Downton Abbey". You get the point.

So, go ahead and stream "The Mandalorian" on Disney Plus and if you feel guilty about how much fun you're having, maybe talk to your therapist?

It is the way.
