The Face on Mars — UFOs and the Messages in Crop Circles

This ‘face’ appeared in a Crop Circle 20 years’ ago — what’s the mystery?

The above is the image of ‘The Face on Mars’ recreated in a wheat field, on a disused airfield in Chilbolton, Hampshire UK. Alongside the Arecibo Message, it is, by far, the most famous Crop Circle.

When I first saw the image, it looked like the 'face in the curtains' that would appear on a full moon. The house we lived in down the road from the airfield was built for the headmaster of the local primary school. He died one night by falling down the stairs and the house was inherited by his daughter and her husband, who lived with him at the time.

Perhaps I'll write the ghost story later, but it resembled the much discussed “Face on Mars”. Photographed by Viking 1 on its maiden voyage to the planet Mars in 1975.

It was reported that as the Viking 1 mission circled the red planet in search of a landing site for its sister ship, Viking 2, it snapped photos of Mars for engineers at NASA to study. On July 25, 1976, it captured the above image - a pile of rocks that had an uncanny resemblance to a human face.

Does the face look a bit like Elon Musk? I’ll let you decide.

Crop Circle Hoaxes

The explanation for the phenomenon given is that two men, self-confessed hoaxers (David Chorley and Doug Bower) created all the crop circles, they came clean and confessed to their antics. They even explained how once, they created a circle even while a film crew was nearby. Thereafter several other people decided to play the same joke around the UK at various times, and their “crop circles” became more elaborate as the years wore on.

They demonstrated this technique for waiting for television crews — but not everyone is convinced by their evidence. “Some of the formations are so intricate and so big that I can’t see two people doing them,” said Tim Carson, a farmer in the Wiltshire village of Alton Barnes. “Some of them are 300m long and they go over the brow of a hill. How would you know the other person’s doing the same thing you are?”

Tim Carson has allowed companies, including Nissan, to build corporate crop circles in his fields for use in advertising, but claims that just a basic design took professionals 12 hours of daylight to produce, in contrast to the suggestion that hoaxers produce circles quickly in the dead of night.

The BBC is currently running articles about the phenomenon - follow the link: https://www.bbc.com/travel/article/20210822-englands-crop-circle-controversy

Mystery of the Crop Circles

When crop circles first started appearing, it was thought that they were formed by ancient settlements, especially in this part of the world because excavations of round huts from the bronze age were found to have had foundations of flint. During dry weather, any moisture or rain, would drain through the soil and subsoil flint foundation, causing the wheat crop to collapse and form the crop circle.

There have been experiments conducted by ‘British Dowsing’ a Dowsing Archive and Discussion Form, who detected underwater streams as having an effect. The soil in the southern part of England is often chalk and flint, rather than heavy clay. I believe the loss of water through the chalk causes grass, flowers, and other vegetation to collapse, because of the process of capillary action.

What is capillary action?

Plants draw water up from their roots and stems. This is done by a process called capillary action, drawing liquid upwards through smaller and smaller tubes called capillaries. Animals including humans also have capillaries. It’s what our blood runs through.

Dowsing is a Real Thing

Let’s consider Dowsing as an option, it’s a real thing, and it’s not some new-age science.

Back in the 1950s, my Uncle bought a farm on the East Side of Salisbury in Wiltshire, UK. There was no running water on the farm, they had to rely on rainwater. I can just see many people turning their noses up at the prospect — YES, life was hard! Anyway, he employed the services of a ‘Dowser’ from Salisbury, and the Dowser found water on his land.

My Uncle paid for a well to be constructed, and then the water board insisted that his well was used to provide water to the village. Of course, he objected at first, but didn’t pursue any actions through the courts, he wasn’t a mean man.

The UK was a very different place then, after all the destruction caused by World War 2 to what it is now.

There was a happy ending to his tale. Whilst the Water Board were not prepared to pay my Uncle for using the water on his land, he later secured Two Mobile Phone Masts, which are sited in one of his fields, on a hill overlooking Salisbury Plain. For these, he is awarded a Wayleave payment each year.

Laser Technology

For a time I entertained the idea that the crop circles could have been formed using Lasers, by the military as experiments. However, the recent revelations by the Chinese on their use of Gun Lasers, indicate that Lasers would in fact scorch the crop, and possibly set it on fire.

That ‘Star Wars’ explanation seems unlikely, but I would welcome anyone’s comments and intellect on this one.

Sound waves could also be an explanation. It’s incredible that dogs can hear a higher pitch than humans.

Ultrasonic Dog Whistle

A dog whistle (also known as a silent whistle or Galton’s whistle) is a type of whistle that emits sound in the ultrasonic range, which most humans cannot hear but some other animals can, including dogs and domestic cats, and is used in their training.

We know that everything on earth reverberates to sound and frequencies, sensitives like myself can see ‘Auras’ and sense things others can’t detect.

The Earth gives off a relentless hum of countless notes completely imperceptible to the human ear, like a giant, exceptionally quiet symphony, but the origin of this sound remains a mystery.

Now unexpected powerful tunes have been discovered in this hum. These new findings could shed light on the source of this enigma.

The planet emanates a constant rumble far below the limits of human hearing, even when the ground isn’t shaking from an earthquake. (It does not cause the ringing in the ear linked with tinnitus.) This sound, first discovered in the late 1990s, is one that only scientific instruments — seismometers — can detect. Researchers call it Earth’s hum.

Again, this theory sounds unlikely.

In conclusion, the explanations are as follows:

Crop Circles are Man-made

Crop Circles are a natural phenomenon, caused by underground water, whirlwinds, or vibration of the earth

Crop Circles are messages from Alien beings visiting the most beautiful planet in the Solar System.

After writing this article, another article appeared in the Independent Newspaper, which may be of interest.
