If there’s a federation used to harsh climate on Earth it’s the United Arab Emirates (UAE). If there’s a region who has monetary resources in abundance, it’s also the UAE.
The seven emirates have come a long way after being established a mere 46 years ago, but now they really intend to amp up their game. The Emirates recently announced to do more than just planting solar cells or high-rise buildings all over their place… they now intend to do just that on Mars!
That’s correct, they’ll join the likes of Mars One and Elon Musk in a race to colonize Mars and intend to build Mars’ first city within 100 years.
The plan called Mars 2117 was even offered as a virtual reality experience on the sideline of World Government Summit in Dubai.
We may not concur with their current methods, as the UAE has been heavily criticized in the past for their bad human rights record, but they do aspire.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid sums it up by releasing the following statement:
“Human ambitions have no limits, and whoever looks into the scientific breakthroughs in the current century believes that human abilities can realise the most important human dream […] The new project is a seed that we plant today, and we expect future generations to reap the benefits, driven by its passion to learn to unveil a new knowledge […] The landing of people on other planets has been a longtime dream for humans. Our aim is that the UAE will spearhead international efforts to make this dream a reality.”
