Youtube is one of the biggest and most popular video-sharing platforms in the world. It is a platform that allows creators to share their creative content with a global audience. Videos on YouTube encompass a wide range of content, from vlogs, tutorials, reviews, and entertainment to documentaries. However, with the recent introduction of YouTube Shorts, many creators are left wondering about the basic differences between regular videos and YouTube shorts. This blog post explores this topic in-depth and aims to provide a clear understanding of what separates YouTube shorts from regular videos. YouTube created shorts to compete with TikTok and Instagram in my opinion.

Firstly, let's start by looking at what a YouTube short is and how it differs from a regular video. YouTube shorts are vertical videos that are designed to be watched in a short period. Shorts are 60 seconds or less, but they can be shorter as well. These videos are shared and viewed in a different part of the YouTube app, and they are usually displayed in short form feeds. In contrast, regular YouTube videos can be as long as you want, and they can be watched at any time on any device. They can also be shared on social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

YouTube has created a way to pay creators for their shorts. I believe this is to compete or step on the toes of some other social media platforms that use short videos.

Secondly, one of the most notable differences between YouTube shorts and regular videos is how they are created. Shorts are typically created on mobile devices and have a shorter editing time. Creators can record videos without having to worry about long scripts, elaborate set designs, or detailed plans. On the other hand, regular YouTube videos usually require more planning and professional equipment for recording, editing, and filming. Hence the name short is exactly what it is.

Thirdly, YouTube Shorts is a new feature that is currently only available in certain countries, while regular YouTube videos are available worldwide. With Shorts, viewers can only watch videos in vertical mode, while regular videos can be watched in either horizontal or vertical mode. YouTube’s short monetization packages are very enticing if you can produce the right content fast. Article to come on exactly how to do that soon.

Fourthly, Shorts and regular YouTube videos also have different purposes. Shorts are designed to provide quick, attention-grabbing content, while regular videos can be used for more in-depth content, tutorials, or discussions. Shorts are also a great way for creators to create viral content and grow their audience quickly, while regular videos can be used to build a more loyal and engaged audience. Shorts are a bite at the apple instead of the entire apple.

In conclusion, understanding the difference between YouTube shorts and regular videos is crucial for any creator who wants to make the most out of the platform. If you do not know the difference between these two outputs on YouTube I am fairly convinced you are fish trying to climb a tree. In other words, you are going no where fast. Shorts are a new way for creators to build their following by creating bite-sized, attention-grabbing content. They are a great way to attract first-time viewers and grow your audience quickly. Regular videos, on the other hand, are perfect for more complex content, discussions, and tutorials. No matter the content you create, understanding the differences between the two will give you a better chance of succeeding on the platform. Ultimately, as a creator, it's important to experiment with both mediums and determine what works best for your audience.
