The Darksaber Lightsaber Has Been 2020’s MOST HATED Toy Of The Year

Read On For WATCH's Reasoning

The Darksaber has become an iconic weapon in the Star Wars universe. First introduced in the animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars, nobody back then could have guessed that it would end up on the first live-action Star Wars TV series, The Mandalorian (after it had appeared again on Star Wars Rebels). It is a lightsaber with its own lore and history by this point. Strong characters have wielded it thus far. When Moff Gideon emerged from the TIE Fighter wielding it, even casual fans of the franchise could tell that this was a dangerous weapon. Well, shoppers may want to keep that in mind as they consider Star Wars themed gifts to acquire.

However, the watchdog organization known as World Against Toys Causing Harm, Inc. (W.A.T.C.H. has included Hasbro's Darksaber on their list of Top 10 Worst Toys of 2020, this being the 48th iteration of their annual list. W.A.T.C.H. releases these every year in time for the holiday season so that families may shop with caution as they look for toys to give to their young ones as gifts. Here is their description:

"Another toy, Star Wars Mandalorian Darksaber, encourages children “SWING FOR BATTLE….!” and is made of rigid plastic, with the potential for facial and other impact injuries. Warnings and instructions are necessary and important, but this does not mean manufacturers can absolve themselves of responsibility by simply adding a label to a toy. A toy’s marketing and design may encourage contradictory uses. Some of these toys are being marketed without appropriate cautions or protective gear. Others have instructions or warnings that are unrealistic to follow in real life. Kids’ play is predictably unpredictable. As such parents and caregivers should carefully weigh the risk of injuries from toys that promote violent play. In some cases, families may decide these toys are inherently too dangerous to be used by children in the first place."

With all of this information in mind, parents should decide wisely when going out to shop for toys to give to their kids. As cool as it may be, it would perhaps be safer to wait until they are older. If you are someone who is grown up and wise enough to use this Darksaber with caution, however, you can acquire it from the following link: https://amzn.to/3nzKqu8

But again, shop with caution during this holiday season. Toys may look really cool on the surface, but it is best to do research on them before making the purchase. If these toys are to be wielded, they should be in safe hands that would for sure not lead to any problems. As should always be the case, shop with much caution.

As for the Darksaber on the screen itself, you may see it again in upcoming episodes of The Mandalorian as they drop on Fridays. We have had very little of Moff Gideon this season, but that could very well change throughout the rest of the series' second season as it airs on Disney+.
