'The Book Of Boba Fett' Could See The Return Of A Surprise Character
And We Can't Wait!
For a show that is slated to come out in about four months from now, there has been surprisingly little (official) information on The Book of Boba Fett. The cast of Obi-Wan Kenobi, which is scheduled for release in the spring of 2022, has been announced several months ago, and there has been a ton of leaked set photos from the Andor series. On the other hand, nothing like this has been revealed thus far for The Book of Boba Fett. We know that Temuera Morrison will return as the famous bounty hunter, Ming-Na Weng is going to join him as Fennec Shand, and at least some of the series’ action will take place an Tatooine. What has further been confirmed is that Jon Favreau and Dave Filioni will be working behind the cameras as writers, directors, and executive producers, together with some other people of Mandalorian fame like Bryce Dallas Howard and Robert Rodriguez.
In the case of Filoni, his involvement might go even further as there are some indications that we might also see his face again on screen. After being quite hesitant to appear in front of the camera, he has had a cameo in both seasons of Mandalorian as the New Republic X-Wing pilot Trapper Wolf. A crew gift pin from the production of The Book of Boba Fett, which can be purchased for the rather hefty price of $500, depicts Filoni’s character in his X-Wing flight suit, his face shield, and the A280 blaster rifle he has used in the season 2 episode “The Passenger”. Instead of a helmet the pin shows Filoni wearing his traditional cowboy hat, which has become a trademark of his since the early days of The Clone Wars.

This pin of course is all but a confirmation that Trapper Wolf will actually have a role in The Book of Boba Fett. Perhaps the bounty hunter will have a run in with the New Republic and its X-Wing pilots. As Dave Filoni’s character was recently knighted with his own Black Series action figure, Jon Favreau might decide to give his partner-in-crime another small role in his new series. It all depends how closely the spin-off will be tied to Mandalorian. Will it be a season 2.5 of the famous Disney+ show as the rumors circulating ever since the post-credit scene of season 2 finale?
Although nothing has been released about the story of The Book of Boba Fett, it is safe to assume that the audience is going to find out what has happened to Fett after Return of the Jedi in some flashback sequences, like how he got out of the Sarlacc Pit, how he lost his armor, and what he had been up to in the years after the end of the Galactic Civil War. A good portion of the story will be taking place after Fett killed Bib Fortuna and took on the throne in Jabba’s palace. Writer and director Dave Filoni does like to link his stories together, as seen in past Star Wars shows, and he could do the same with The Book of Boba Fett.
Aside from Trapper Wolf, other characters from Mandalorian may once again cross paths with Fett and Shand. There is Cobb Vanth, the marshal of Mos Pelgo who was introduced in the Aftermath book series. His first live-action appearance in season 2 of Mandalorian showed him in possession of Boba Fett’s famous armor. Vanth may appear in a flashback scene where we see him acquiring it, or Fett may pay him a visit later on, either to thank him for having preserved it or to punish him for not giving it back earlier. Migs Mayfield is another character, who could easily fit in the story, as he has already worked with Fett. He may return to his mercenary days after having been freed from New Republic custody as opposed to settling down in a less exicting lifestlye. There are of course Greef Karga and Din Djarin himself, who could further act as a connecting tissue between the two series. The fact that Pedro Pascal was occupied shooting The Last of Us in Canada while The Book of Boba Fett was being filmed might not be a problem. Someone can stand in as the helmet-wearing Djarin in front of the camera, and Pascal can deliver his ADR lines in post-production.
The Bad Batch is another Disney+ series with Filoni’s fingerprints on it that has just wrapped up its first season. What if an adult Omega in her 30s suddenly shows up at Jabba’s palace?

Review of 'Constellation'
I've read and seen many alternate reality stories. Some are caused by quantum entanglement -- the mega version of two subatomic particles colliding and then moving in opposite directions but still intimately and instantly connected -- and some just happen or are already there. I just reviewed a movie here on Vocal with that schema, and have written a few double realities stories and a novel with that premise myself. But none explore the existence and impact of that on families the way that Constellation does. Indeed, none do much of that at all in the at once deep and startling way that this new series on Apple TV+ does.
