The Clone Wars is one of the best Star Wars shows out there, maybe even the best Star Wars show. It makes the Star Wars universe so much bigger, and also brings prequel characters to the forefront. Another thing that makes The Clone Wars so great is the quotes, or morals, at the beginning of each episode. Each one relates to the episode in some way, but also relates to Star Wars in a bigger picture as well. These are my favorite opening quotes from The Clone Wars.

"Trust in your friends, and they’ll have reason to trust in you"

Season 1, Episode 6

When R2 goes missing, Anakin and Ahsoka go after him. Even after everything goes wrong, Anakin never gives up trying to save the droid. Eventually, Anakin is captured, and relies on his friends, Ahsoka and Rex, to save him.

Star Wars has always been about friendships. In the prequels, you have Obi-Wan, Padme, and Anakin. In the Clone Wars, its Anakin, Obi-Wan, and Ahsoka. The original trilogy was Luke, Leia, Han and Chewbacca. The sequels is Finn, Rey, and Poe. The reason the Rebellion was successful was friendship. They trusted each other. Leia, Han, and Chewie all trusted Luke when he went to destroy the Death Star. Poe and Finn trusted Rey when she went to fight Palpatine. Obi-Wan and Anakin trusted Ahsoka when they sent her out on her own. Their trust in each other was strong because of their friendship.

"A Single Chance Is A Galaxy Of Hope"

Season 1, Episode 18

Anakin and Obi-Wan go on a suicide mission to find an antidote for the Blue Shadow Virus that has infected Ahsoka and Padme. Hope is what Padme and Ahsoka had in Obi-Wan and Anakin. It's a word widely associated with Star Wars.

It’s what Leia says to Obi-Wan when she contacts him. It’s what Leia says at the end of Rogue One. It's what keeps Jyn Erso going throughout Rogue One. It’s what keeps the Rebellion going, even though all may seem lost.

"The Cost Of War Can Never Truly Be Accounted For"

Season 1, Episode 20

Star Wars has never shied away from showing the horrors of war, and this episode is no different. The planet is at war and many lives are lost. This quote can also be used for all of the Clone Wars. Many innocent people in the galaxy died, for a war waged by a the few people in charge.

Innocent people die throughout all of Star Wars. Darth Vader blows up Alderaan to prove a point. Kylo Ren destroys villages to recruit for the First Order. All of these had innocent casualties, at the hand of a few people.

"Believe in yourself or no one else will"

Season 2, Episode 5

Anakin and Ahoska are separated from Obi-Wan and Ki-Adi-Mundi. They have to find out a way out, and when they do, they lead the charge to take down the droid army on Geonosis. They improvise, Anakin taking a squad to blind the droids scanners, which allows them to take the factory. Anakin believed his plan worked, and it did. He believed in himself.

Believing in oneself is another message from Star Wars. Ahsoka struggles with it throughout The Clone Wars. She relies on Anakin a lot, until she leaves the Jedi Order. Once she leaves the Order, she starts to find who she is, and starts to believe in herself, without the help of the Jedi. Rey is similar. She doesn't know who she is, and wants to find out. Once she starts learning the ways of the Jedi, it becomes clearer. It isn't until she is laying on the ground in Rise of Skywalker, with the help of the Force ghosts, that she believes in who she is. That is also shown when she takes the Skywalker name.

"Brothers in arms are brothers for life"

Season 3, Episode 1

Clone 99 tells Hevy the importance of brotherhood and teamwork. He takes this to heart and leads his team to victory. Brotherhood is very important to the clones. They have their own names, and personalities. They treat each other like brothers, no matter what happens.

The clones are brothers. They are also soldiers, but they treat each other like they're individual people. When Echo goes missing, Rex and Clone Force 99 risk everything to go after him. Anakin joins them in their quest. When they find him, they see he's been tortured and changed by the Separatists. While he was never the same after, he left the 501st and joined Clone Force 99.

"The young are often underestimated"

Season 5, Episode 7

The younglings get intercepted by Hondo and his band of pirates on their way back from Ilum. They use their lightsaber training droids to lead Hondo and his men into a trap. The younglings use what they know, and are able to get away from the pirates safely. Ahsoka arrives at the end to help them out. She is captured and leaves the younglings to deliver the news, something I doubt any of the Jedi thought they could do.

When Qui-Gon meets young Anakin, he doesn't think much of him, until he sees him podrace. He finds out there's something special in him, and that he's the "Chosen One". He brings him to Coruscant so he can be trained in the Jedi ways. Luke is a much older kid, at the age of 19, when he begins his journey. He ends up destroying the Death Star, something no one thought he, or anyone could do.

"Never give up hope, no matter how dark things seem"

Season 5, Episode 20

The Jedi Order doesn't believe Ahsoka is innocent when she is accused of bombing the Jedi Temple, except Anakin. He does all he can to help prove Ahsoka's innocence. The Jedi say it was a test and want her to come back and rejoin the Order. The Jedi Order let her down and she left.

After Ahsoka left, she was just a regular citizen, who happened to have Jedi training. She didn't give up though, as she was able to find herself without the help of Anakin and the Order. She was able to come back stronger, in a dark time.

"Without darkness there cannot be light"

Season 6, Episode 8

Jar Jar is sent to a planet to help find out why people are disappearing. Eventually, the queen goes missing too and Jar Jar is in trouble. He finds out that a cult is stealing the Force. Jar Jar is saved by Mace Windu, right before he's about to be sacrificed.

Star Wars is about dark vs light, Jedi vs sith. Both who have different ideas of what the Force should and can do. Anytime a darkness rises in Star Wars, the Galactic Empire in the prequels, Darth Vader in the original trilogy, and the First Order in the sequels, there is always light to drive it out. The Rebellion is a force of light, and present throughout all of Star Wars.

"Who you were does not have to define who you are"

Season 7, Episode 7

Ahsoka teams up with the Martez sisters, who have a questionable past. When the sisters are captured by Pykes, Ahsoka goes after them to free them. She gets drawn into a trap, and also gets herself captured. One of the sisters apologizes for taking the job. Ahsoka reassures her that it will be fine. Already, the sister apologizing shows that she wants to change her life, and that who she was, doesn't dictate who she has to be.

Asajj Ventress and Ben Solo are good examples of this. Asajj Ventress started out on the side of the Sith, was later betrayed, and redeemed herself and went towards the light. She never accepted the dark side again. Ben Solo has a similar story. He was the villain Kylo Ren, who idolized his grandfather, Darth Vader. It wasn't until he realized, with the help of his father, Han Solo, that he didn't need to be like that. He later turned to the light, and helped Rey fight Palpatine in his final fight. Both of these characters pasts don't have to define who they are. They changed for the better, and should be seen that way.
