Astrology is not as complex as one may think. If you know the basics you will understand yourself and those around you tens times better!

Astrology basics teaches that each sign is comprised of each of these factors below.

  • Element: fire, air, earth, water
  • Polarity: masculine/feminine, active/passive, or yin/yang
  • Modality/quadruplicity: cardinal, fixed, mutable
  • Image: the Ram, the Bull, the Twins, the Crab, the Lion, etc
  • Planetary Ruler: Mars rules Aries and the Moon rules Cancer.

Every sign is either feminine or masculine.

In learning to understand the basics of astrology, you will see that it merely involves studying the ever-changing pattern of the planets and stars in relation to human experience.

Astrologers simply examine the positions of the planets at the moment of a person’s birth in order to discern themes, characteristics, and interests that can be emphasized over the course of that person’s life.

This can also be done yourself fairly easily by getting a free birth chart done online. It will be specific to you and walk you through every single aspect and phase of your life from birth and tell you your moon sign and rising sign.

The ascendent or rising sign is what you show when people meet you, which is why you may know someone who is an Aries sun sign and say well, they don't act like other Aries—it's mainly because their rising sign is a totally different sign. They may have a Virgo rising and more often than not that's what they'll give off outwards. The sun sign is more so expressed as a child growing up.

The method of direction we use to guide us through travel of North, South, East, West is in correlation to the elements of fire, air, earth and water!

The Body Part Ruled by Each Sign

Every area that rules the 12 signs is correlated to every body part. This is why astrology is related to the genetic make up of a human being. For this reason only, that is why the Zodiac starts in Aries since it rules the head (space), and ending in the 12th sign of Pisces which rules the feet.

The whole zodiac moves throughout the whole body system because where it is stationed in the sky at everyone's specific time of birth is the body part that it will naturally govern. So say for instance you are a Capricorn—you will tend to experience some knee pain, bone or skin issue, in your lifetime since Capricorn governs these particular areas, which is why knowing these things is imperative as it serves to guide you through life.

The planets represent the various facets of the personality. For instance, the Moon represents feelings, moods, needs, and the quality of our emotional life. While Venus signifies our expression of love, affection, our social style and way of relating with others.

The Astrological chart can be viewed as a road map heaven-sent by the Creator. It offers individualized guidance through life’s changes and challenges.
