Expect More than the Unexpected at the 2018 Philip K. Dick Science Fiction Film Festival
It's almost—no, could it be? A dimension as vast as space and infinite as timelessness. It's the only known setting that actually beckons randomized oddities, without a single isotope of negative cynicism.
'Starship Troopers': The Book and Movie Complement Each Other Perfectly
Some gage the Paul Verhoeven adaptation of Starship Troopersas a brilliantly couched anti-war, anti-fascist statement, while others see no need to elevate this mindless 1997 B-movie slaughter. I’m with the former. But it’s those that are deeply offended by the political hijacking of Heinlein’s message that has me commenting again. I’ve now read the book and find that the vastly different outlooks complement each other perfectly.

Star Wars has become the largest generational film franchise, with sets of films bringing in audiences since the late '70s with the original trilogy starring Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, and Mark Hamill. Fans have watched as these films grew into a sprawling universe filled with novels, comics, animated cartoons, and further reaching feature films over the last four decades. Many of the original trilogy fans have passed their love for the series down generation to generation.

Avatar was shown on e4 a couple of times this week, and though I've already seen the movie, I wanted to watch it again to look deeper into the world. The people, the animals, the society that they are in can be read into with so much detail. I had to make this post. The way they play with death, the constant progress and only the strongest surviving through the trials of tradition set so long ago, unforgiving but not savage—human—an advanced race with so much soul.

Mohammed HidhayatPublished 6 years ago in FuturismFive Glitchy Teaser Trailers Released For Ghost In The Shell Live Action Movie
Paramount just released a handful of intro videos and it look like something cribbed from the intro of CTOS video logs (à la Watchdogs, the video game). They give a glimpse of the how the first ever live action adaptation of Masamune Shirow’s science fiction manga will look like. These are just pointless videos released to spur excitement among movie fans. It is definitely not achieving that.

While the world awaits for Dennis Villeneuve's grim, smoggy futuristic version of dystopian Los Angeles in Blade Runner 2, the director has revealed a 1-minute spot for his other sci-fi project 'Arrival'. It stars Amy Adams which is all I want to know. Still photographs of the film were released sometime this week giving our first look at the characters played by Amy Adams, Jeremy Renner and Forest Whitaker. The teaser was released a few minutes ago and it reminds you why the word 'thriller' is synonymous with the works of Dennis Villeneuve.

"Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away", Philip K. Dick had to say this about Reality. He also said, "I, in my stories & novels often write about counterfeit worlds, semi-real worlds as well as deranged private worlds inhabited often by just one person." Boy, would he be profoundly happy to experience Virtual Reality had he been alive today.

Space opera movies are the lifestream of mainstream sci-fi. For those who have never heard the term before, outer space operas are shows and films that deal with people who are traveling through space. So, mainstream movies like Star Wars and series like Star Trek both would be part of this genre.
Riley Raul ReesePublished 6 years ago in FuturismStar Wars: 'Aftermath: Empire's End' Hints That Snoke Is a Being from the Unknown Regions...
Who is Supreme Leader Snoke? Introduced in The Force Awakens, the powerful being behind the First Order is a riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma. The novelization of The Force Awakens revealed that Snoke witnessed the rise and fall of the Galactic Empire from afar, that he watched the New Republic's birth pains, and that he focused his attentions particularly on Ben Solo. No surprise, then, that a Lucasfilm exec recently confirmed that Snoke isn't human!
'Star Wars': 'Bloodline' & 'Phasma' Books Hint at the Fall of Kylo Ren and the Rise of the First Order
Back in 2015, Star Wars fans were shocked to learn the true identity of Kylo Ren. Born under the name of Ben Solo, this dark side warrior was actually the son of Han and Leia. Heartbreakingly, the Force Awakens ended with a tragic act of patricide, where Ben impaled his father on his cruel, crackling lightsaber.
Noomi Rapace Plays Seven Roles In The Phenomenal 'Seven Sisters' Trailer
Every now and again an actor gets the chance to really push the envelope. Think along the lines of Tatiana Maslany in Orphan Black, or James McAvoy in Split. These roles that challenge actors; they test their mettle. If the first trailer for upcoming sci-fi thriller Seven Sisters is anything to go by, Noomi Rapace, who you might recognize from Prometheus and The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, has taken on just such a role.
