Something Strange is Going On
I know this is going to sound crazy; Hell, I hardly believe it myself, but it happened. After so many failed attempts, it finally happened.

Growing up, we were all told stories of monsters, aliens, princes and princesses, witches and wizards. And how they were all defeated by magic, love or by laser guns from a distant planet that the writer thought up probably while on the toilet. The story I’m about to tell you, however, is based on fact. I’ll give you some context first.
Listening To The Footsteps
Victoria hated 2:00 AM ever since she moved into her new apartment. Well, more accurately, she hated it for about a month now.

I’ve been training for this day my entire life. The day my combat training comes into play and I have to invade the Ovum Regno. The Ovum Regno is by far the most dangerous place our army knows of. Millions of us set out to find it a month, and only a few hundred make it there. Yet, even of those few hundred, we are told from the beginning that only one will be chosen to enter.

Chapters 1 to 2 can be read at: Deep Sky Stories Chapter 3 - A Recurring Dream The dream began as one full of beauty and hope. It was the twilight before dawn and the sky was soft, deep velvet blue. The boy felt all weight fall away from him as he ran across his back yard. The tall grasses were damp and cool against his legs and he breathed calmly, deeply.

7/12/2083 I have seen Mackalya in my dreams again. Each night it becomes more and more real; her powers strengthening from my agonizing fear. Since the year '79, she has been working her way into my head to take over my thoughts and control me. I swear that I have seen her in person a few times, but it has to be impossible, as she is not real.

Curiosity led my eyes to wander the classroom, glancing at the watches on everyone's right wrist. From a distance, it was difficult to make out the grey, digital numbers on the little metal slits wrapped on. Though it was difficult, it was easy to make out a certain number. Zero. All the timers I could see had many zeros on them, meaning their journeys were to come to an end and the clocks would unlatch themselves forever. I looked back to my own watch and winced as if the numbers were a knife to the chest.

“Here,” Guard 5110 said to her, handing over a disposable dust mask. “The levels are a lot higher today. You're already at risk for red lung.”

I post many of my thoughts in areas that mean a lot to me. Areas where, yes, my thoughts will be heard with at least...compassion. I do not know all the answers. I likely never will. I am not a highly educated person, but I am a moderately educated person who has a good grasp of morality. My thoughts and principals were formed in many, many ways from the classic science fiction I read as a teen. No, I will not be able to quote wise philosophers without research. I am okay with this. I feel we have gotten here based on those things...we need a new perspective on our world to survive. Perhaps the answers lie not in philosophy, or anything we acknowledge as valid, but in the realms of what our society thinks is fantasy. This will be my attempt to explain.

E-Jo the Bull Mountain was ten feet tall (when he decided to be that small) and billed as being from the mysterious sounding L’Ile de Pieces Inconnus and composed of stone like the Easter-Island-like island statues and empowered by the same gods of otherness. Thus, E-Jo at the beginning of his professional wrestling career elicited the first type of heat.

I’m looking around at their swollen, sunken eyes as they talk aimlessly with each other, prattle on about what’s about to take place, about what they’re going to do with me.

A warning, a prophecy, or just a story? In retrospect, it can be seen as all three. Indeed, it would appear to have over-fulfilled its literary quota and moved from being a sci-fi inspired future-history novel, to become a piece of historical fiction. The old, worn out debate about its prophetic significance has gone by the board; look around you — do you get the feeling you are being watched?
