Theory Explained: Simulation Theory
The Matrix... Arguably one of the greatest science fiction movie franchises of all time. Back when it was released in 1999, its plot about our reality being a simulation created by a more technologically advanced intelligent race was nothing more than a work of science fiction. Then, in 2003, all of that changed at the hands of a man named Nick Bostrom. His paper, published in Philosophical Quarterly, was the first serious intellectual publication to propose simulation theory. Since then the theory has gained a substantial amount of traction, even with some big names from silicon valley. Elon Musk shook all the skeptics when he was on the Joe Rogan Podcast. He said and I quote:
Carlos GuerraPublished 3 years ago in FuturismWhat if My AI is Manic Depressive
My AI Build Project Gets Me Worried In addition to a lot of the stuff I have been working on as I continue my at home AI build I have been doing a lot of worrying. The number of things that could go horribly wrong seem to be staggeringly high and there is no historical data on which to judge the probabilities of such things happening, nor are there even any really solid theoretical underpinnings on which to hang my hat so to speak. As I worked through my list of concerns in my mind I started to feel a bit depressed. As I started to feel depressed I started to think about another interesting and potentially terrifying possibility for my AI, What if it is “born” or later becomes “mentally” ill?

First Comes the Background and Introduction Part I don’t spend nearly as much time as I probably should reading people’s comments. To be honest it is mostly because I have a very fragile ego. The slightest criticism can ruin my night and possibly my entire week if it hits the mark a little too close for comfort. When I do work up the nerve to have a peek I am usually rewarded as mostly the people who do take the time to read and comment are thoughtful and intelligent and often make some really brilliant points, sometimes this happens even after they lay into me for wasting five minutes of their life with a post or two or three they found most definitely not to their liking. Holy run-on batman! Is that really a grammatically sound sentence? I mean look how long it is, try and diagram that sucker, I dare you.
Everyday JunglistPublished 3 years ago in FuturismSociety Has to Accept the Changes
"Over a wide reach from general TV through business publicizing to brought together data and information preparing frameworks, the innovation that is currently or is opening up can be utilized to influence, to change, and now and again to control our entire social cycle." (Williams, 1974, p. 151)
Evolved.
My name is Zen. I've had many names and I remember them all. Zen is the name I choice for myself. Because who I am and where I am, I finally get to do that.

3 Reasons Why Socrates Was Made Up By Plato

Julian DiepPublished 3 years ago in FuturismHere’s Why The Unexamined Life is Worth Living
The widely known ancient Greek philosopher Socrates once said: “the unexamined life is not worth living for men.” Notice that the philosopher was restricting this to men; in fact, the ancient Greek society was too sexist at the time, so much that women had a status slightly higher than that of slaves.

“Make the unthinkable thinkable again.” — Julian Huxley (1946) Can you imagine a world where humans are hackable enough to merge our bodies and minds with artificial intelligence?

“The foolishness of youth, that’s why they do silly things. They are just trying to develop their personalities, you know, find their way in the world. They are carving out their position, their niche, and sometimes they do foolish things, that’s how they learn. They learn from their mistakes.”
