Vala RogersPublished 5 years ago in FuturismPutting a Little Green in your Workplace
You may be considering the question of how to make your workplace more green, or environmentally friendly. To keep things simple, making a workplace green can be looked at in a similar manner of making a residence green. Starting there will mean that the things that are similar to a residence will be considered first, as they can be considered the proverbial "low hanging fruit." With that in mind, the focus will be on alternative energy options, energy efficiency, and waste minimization.
Robert CordrayPublished 5 years ago in FuturismWhy We Have to Get Serious About Our Planet
This morning, the Starbucks barista noticed the writing on my reusable cup, which read, “Saving the turtles," with the most adorable little turtle that my boyfriend drew. She goes, “I love this so much! Go you!” Naturally, we started talking about the environment and the uprising of reusable straws. I know that all of you have seen at least one Instagram ad, I know I’ve seen my fair share.

I recently watched a Netflix special Our Planet. In the series, it talks about how humanity is destroying the planet. It talks about how different parts of the world are affected by global warming; from the Atlantic to the Rainforest to under the Sea. With the amount of global warming and pollution in the world, it's causing the polar ice caps to melt. Within the next 5,000 years, there will be nothing left of the ice caps. Leaving the average temperature of the Earth at 80 degrees Fahrenheit instead of the current 58.

Climate Crisis: Argentina and the United Kingdom
In February 2019, I went to the capital of Argentina, Buenos Aires. I was shocked to see the way things were in the capital, small things from free plastic straws in convenience stores, to huge bins with mixed waste. This was an incredible difference I noticed, when comparing the country to the United Kingdom. So why doesn't the government of Argentina follow that of the United Kingdom, making reforms to the way recycling works, and tackling some of the problems contributing to the growing Climate Crisis?
Jack A. SibleyPublished 5 years ago in FuturismThe Number of Plastic in Our Oceans Will Give You Chills
So if eight million metric tons of plastic ends up in our oceans every year, then that means 560 pounds of plastic goes into our oceans a day. So to put that into a visual, Canada is only 8030 KM long, the amount of coastline in kilometers is 620,000. So there is enough plastic going into our oceans a year to travel across Canada 77 times per year. This is a catastrophic number.

Neil WhitePublished 5 years ago in FuturismGet Inspired: Sustainability Podcasts to Listen to Now
I always write a lot about sustainability because it is something that we should all be concerned about, however it is also all very overwhelming. Sometimes it feels easier to just bury our heads, and ignore the reality of the climate crisis happening, but sleepwalking into irrevocable changes isn’t an option anymore.
Mega Tsunami Threatens US East Coast
In the last decade, people around the world have undergone a wide scale of record-setting natural disasters. The tsunami that rocked the nation of Japan in 2011, the biggest hurricanes the modern world has seen bombarding the United States. Volcanoes in Guatemala and Hawaii, and a trifecta of earth, water, and fire in Sulawesi last year. Hell... even Russia had a close call with a meteor in 2013. Our planet has been displaying its catastrophic potential, and all of the science says that at the rate we are going... the stakes are only going to get higher, and matters are only going to get worse.
