hile researching the unusual waves of UFOs that suddenly pop up throughout history, such as the “foo fighters” during World War II, I recently came upon a newspaper report from 1863 that described a bizarre sighting of UFO armadas accompanied by armies of humanoids in white uniforms witnessed by many in the South, during the U.S. Civil War.

In a Civil War publication published in New York, a story of high strangeness unfolded on a beautiful, clear day on Oct. 1, 1863, according to the Aerial Phenomena Research Organization (APRO), a group that scientifically investigated UFO sightings from 1952 to 1988.

The story, witnessed by civilians and soldiers alike, told of a ghostly army that seemingly appeared from unknown objects in the sky.

Nobody who witnessed the event pretended to have a solution to the mystery, but it was suggested by some to be an optical illusion- sound familiar?

This is the same explanation the Pentagon offers for a sudden wave of UFOs.

The strange occurrences of 1863 were witnessed a few miles west of Lewisburg, Greenbrier County, Va. The first person to witness the first armada of UFOs that preceded the ghostly soldiers was Mr. Moses Dwyer, who was seated on his porch at 3 p.m. with others who also observed the following.

Immense Numbers of Door-Shaped Objects

“Just over and through the tops of the trees on the adjacent hills, to the south, immense numbers of rolls, resembling cotton or smoke, apparently the size and shape of doors, seem to be passing rapidly through the air, yet in beautiful order and regularity,” Mr. Dwyer said.

The door-shaped objects were tinged with light green, to resemble a border of deep fringe, witnesses reported. There were thousands of them. It took an hour for all of them to fly by. But, after they flew by, the high strangeness of the afternoon began to escalate to the next level:

A Bizarre Army in White Suddenly Appears

“In the deep valley beneath, thousand upon thousand of what appeared to be human men came in view, traveling in the same direction as the [UFOs], marching in good order, some thirty or forty in-depth, ascending the almost insurmountable hills opposite, and had the stoop peculiar to men ascending a steep mountain,” eyewitnesses attested.

“There seemed to be a great variety in the size of the men; some were very large, whilst others were quite small. Their arms, legs, and heads could be distinctly seen in motion. They seemed to observe strict military discipline, and there were no stranglers.”

The Color White

“There was uniformity of dress; white blouses or shirts, with white pants; they were without guns, swords, or anything that indicated ‘men of war.’ On they came through the valley and over the steep road and finally passing out of sight, in a direction due north from those who were looking on,” said the Editor who had witnessed the event.”

Conclusion

It’s difficult to make a lot of sense out of this event, but several thoughts come to mind:

  • It could have been a show of power to the leaders of the North and South that others might have a say in the Civil War. A warning — if you will — to the powers that be.

  • The army in white appeared to a modern reader to be robotic, which they may have been — if extraterrestrials were practicing a dry run using androids to stop the horrific slaughter of the Civil War.

  • It could have been some kind of dimensional slip from the past or future, somehow triggered by the intense psychic passions of war that existed during the period.

  • It was some sort of mirage or optical illusion from somewhere or someplace, far, far away.

Your speculations are as good as mine.
