2021 was not the best year for Star Wars fans. As a fan base, we expect a lot more projects yearly since the selling of LucasFilm to Disney. However, 2022 is full of amazing projects that will have fans all over the world excited. This article will showcase some of these 2022 projects.

Books

Just like most years in recent Star Wars history, we will be getting new canon books released. The new era of Star Wars, The High Replublic, returns in book form in 2022. The High Republic: Tempest Runner is a script book written by Cavan Scott, writer of some previous Star Wars books. This book will be similar to Dooku: Jedi Lost and will be released on the 1st of March 2022.

Star Wars: Brotherhood is a book written by Mike Chen and it is a book for prequel fans to get very excited about. It is going to be set in the clone wars just like the animated TV show and will document Obi-Wan and Anakin's adventure and Anakin getting promoted from Padawan to Jedi Knight.

A final book worth noting in 2022 is Star Wars: Shadow of the sith, written by Adam Christopher. This book will be set after the events of Return of the Jedi and will feature Lando Calrissian and Luke Skywalker and will help fans find out more about their adventures mentioned in The Rise of Skywalker. The book is also rumored to show a bit about Rey's childhood.

Games

Star Wars games have been in a little bit of limbo the past couple of years, with EA losing the exclusivity to make the games and Battlefront 2 being canceled for the DICE team to work on Battlefield projects. Coming into 2022 it should be a big year for Star Wars games.

EA needs to have some sort of new project to announce as they have been talking about having multiple games in development for the past couple of years, especially with two new games being announced by other game studios, EA needs to catch up.

We should also be getting something for the Jedi: Fallen Order sequel, whether that be a trailer or just a title. Fans are all still hoping for EA to announce something along the lines of a Battlefront 3, but personally, I don't hold out much hope for that.

The Mandalorian Season 3

After the very well-received season 1 and 2 of The Mandalorian, the third season of the hit show is expected to land on Disney Plus sometime in the second half of 2022.

The show left a lot to be answered after the season 2 finale, with so many characters introduced in season 2 we are left wondering if we will see them appear in season 3. In season 2 we were introduced to some characters not seen before in live-action, such as Bo-Katan and Ahsoka Tano. We also saw some returning characters like Boba Fett and the legendary return of Luke Skywalker.

Some characters like Boba Fett and Ahsoka Tano have their own shows to go to but other characters like Grogu, Luke, and Bo-Katan still have their stories to be fully fleshed out and explained why they were involved in season 2. Will we see Grogu training with Luke, will we see Mando interacting with Bo-Katan again?

There is so much Star Wars could do with Mandalorian season 3, so many directions they could take the character and the story, it will be very exciting to see how it turns out and what is next for him.

Obi-Wan Kenobi Show

The most anticipated show of 2022. The series that Star Wars fans have been asking for, for years. All we know about a release date is that it is coming sometime in 2022.

The show will see the return of Ewan McGregor as fan-favorite character Obi-Wan Kenobi, showing snippets from his years protecting Luke and his adventures on Tatooine.

The show will also feature the return of Hayden Christensen, returning to play either Anakin, Vader, or a mixture of the two characters. The show is rumored to give fans their first look at Anakin and Obi-Wan from the animated clone wars show in live-action, as we have seen in The Mandalorian with Ahsoka and Bo-Katan. The hype for this show could not be higher and fans cannot wait for this to come to Disney Plus.
