When you think of a fantasy world, most people think: of a specific time era, different/mythical creatures, a villain that is powerful and a hero that fits into the story. There are many examples of what a perfect fantasy world is, but if I were to say what my perfect fantasy world is, I would have to say no other than Star Wars. Star Wars is no different than our world; in fact, it is better! No matter the different worlds that they travel to, they celebrate diversity ( I will get into this later on), deal with overcoming adversity and try to take on a corrupt government. So...basically modern day activists. Who would not want to live in a world where there are different and exciting creatures, light sabers, or sexy Darth Vader? Any way, I am here to explain why Star Wars is the best fantasy world to live in:

No lack of diversity: when watching Star Wars, you see peculiar creatures within the series. However, what makes this extraordinary is that the characters are not ostracized. Whether a wookie, android, or Jar-Jar Binks (I know not a good example), they are not seen any different from Luke, Leia or Han Solo. Furthermore, it also shows that people try to acknowledge and understand communication from all creatures whether it is Chewbacca, Jabba the Hut, the Sand People or R2-D2. The humans did not make fun of them and did not treat them any different.

Technology: The technology is amazing! Not just because androids like C3PO or R2-D2, but also the hologram from when we are first introduced to Princess Leia or the awesome yet dark and innovative “Death Star”. Also, how could I forget the Light Saber! It is basically like an electric knife.

They are focused on current social issues: One of the biggest reasons why I love Star Wars is because it appeals to one of my biggest passions: Politics. Between episodes 1-3, they focus a little more on the corruption of those in office and how easily one can be enticed and manipulated into corruption. We are facing this conundrum now more than ever so it feels like Deja Vu.

Feminism is another thing I noticed: While in the beginning we see that Leia is playing the Damsel in Distress role, but she is far from that. She fights, takes charge in missions and even took part in training to be a Jedi. She may be a princess, but she acted like a warrior. Another example would be Rey, who was resilient and a great Jedi who showed strength and grit.

Amazing Backstory: I mean Star Wars is an iconic movie franchise, but it has an even better backstory: The hero’s nemesis is his own father, his twin was separated at birth, he has awesome sidekicks, etc. and that’s just ⅓ of the movie series, I have not even gotten to the others. Nothing makes a good fantasy world without an amazing backstory.

Costumes: A fantasy world is not complete without costumes. Look no further than: Leia’s gold bra outfit, Darth Vader’s suit, the Storm Troopers, etc.

There are a lot of things that make Star Wars a perfect fantasy world. In fact, there are a lot of reasons why Star Wars is the best movie franchise in history. However, I choose to focus on the key points as to why Star Wars is the best fantasy world. The characters in Star Wars fought for justice and wanted to take on the dystopian leaders who wanted power. When anyone thinks of any fantasy world, it would be hard not to imagine Star Wars.
