Terrifying!

Many weapons have come from the galaxy far, far away in the last four decades, but one in particular has just been brought into the universe via the currently running comic series War of the Bounty Hunters, and it is horrific. The weapon in question is a skin melting hand grenade.

Before we look at it in greater detail, SPOILER WARNING is in effect for Star Wars: War of the Bounty Hunters: Jabba the Hutt 1 by Justin Ireland, Ibraim Roberson, Luca Pizzari, Edgar Delgado, Giada Marchisio and VC's Ariana Maher so if you haven't read it yet, go and check it out.

In this issue, Boba Fett must work together with fellow bounty hunter, now an information broker, Deva Lompop, whilst on a mission to deal with an enemy of the mighty Jabba. In terms of timeline, this takes place before the capture of Han Solo, when Fett was working with Jabba. The enemy in question, was Jarm Brock. Jarm was a Zabrak male who, interestingly, was romantically linked to Lompop in the past, but became the subject of Jabba's wrath due to infiltrating his operations in Mos Entha. Jarm was working with the criminal syndicate Crimson Dawn, but made it seem like the idea to infiltrate Jabba's group came from fellow Hutt Bokku, to trick Jabba into going after the Hutt Council. Jabba sent many teams to try and take out Jarm before finally sending Fett and Lompop due to continued failures.

When Fett and Lompop arrive on Tatooine to deal with Jarm, they find he was more than ready for the attack and had actually concocted a trap of his own. He and his soldiers drop down on the pair with full force, seemingly throwing a spanner in the works, however Lompop had an ace up her sleeve. Having already anticipated a trap, she brought along the aforementioned skin melting grenade and used it on the unsuspecting attackers to horrifying effect.

After lobbing the grenade, Jarm immediately recognizes it and tries to warn his men not to let the gas escaping from it ouch them, but it is unfortunately too little too late for some of the men. As quick as a flash, the flesh from those affected begins to leave their body and melt in a completely gruesome way, leaving very little of them left save for some bone scraps and cloth from their clothes. Jarm then escapes on a speeder before being caught by Fett. When Lompop catches up, she tricks Jarm into believing she's here to help him by stabbing Fett with a poisoned knife, but when Jarm provides the true enemy responsible for his infiltration, she proceeds to eat him, except for his head which she brought back to Jabba along with Fett. Thus confirming the job had been completed.

As we mentioned previously, there have been a plethora of weapons used throughout the entire franchise, but this is something else indeed. Anyone holding one of these grenades during a fight, is definitely not to be trifled with and if anyone recognizes it, it's a smart move to get as far away as possible, especially if it is Deva Lompop. Based on just how gruesome the effects of the grenade are, it's very unlikely we will see this in any live-action or animated setting. It is a weapon more likely to remain within the realms of comics, unless Disney and Lucasfilm decide to go down the R-rated route in the future.

What do you make of this gruesome weapon? Is it too much for the franchise or do you think it would make a good addition to some of our characters' arsenals? Be sure to let us know.

Until next time!
