2022 is looking to be a hell of a year for Star Wars fans. Yeah, last year had plenty of books and comics come out, and we got the first season of The Bad Batch, but 2021 was a bit lackluster for Star Wars fans, especially over on Disney+. Compare that to Marvel, which had four movie releases and five Disney+ series: WandaVision, Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Loki, WHAT IF...? and Hawkeye. Marvel fans were well catered to last year. Now it's our turn.

This year we've got The Book of Boba Fett (which is currently on Disney+), a second season of The Bad Batch, a third season of The Mandalorian, Andor another LEGO Star Wars Special, and the most anticipated Star Wars show: Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Yes, out of all the Star Wars shows, it's the Obi-Wan Kenobi series that fans are looking forward to the most. Even more so than season three of The Mandalorian. Near the end of last year, I conducted a poll asking Star Wars fans which upcoming show/series they were most looking forward to in 2022, including The Book of Boba Fett. In which 61% of fans voted for Obi-Wan Kenobi.

As you can see, there is a considerable gap between Obi-Wan Kenobi and The Book of Boba Fett, with Kenobi nearly filling two-thirds of the graph. That alone shows that fans are excited. It's the most hyped Star Wars content this year.

Currently, Loki holds the title of the most-watched premiere on Disney+. Surpassing both seasons of The Mandalorian, WandaVision, and The Falcon and the Winter Solider. Loki has been a fan favorite for years now, over a decade. So Tom Hiddleston as Loki, in his own series, was always going to be a hit. The question is can Obi-Wan Kenobi dethrone Loki as the most-watched premiere on Disney+?

Well, Star Wars fans seem to be VERY confident that Obi-Wan Kenobi can take the "high ground" from Loki. After conducting another poll last week on The Star Wars Hub, sharing it amongst several dozen groups (Star Wars, Marvel, and Geek related) along with other large Star Wars pages sharing it. This gave the poll an extensive reach. And these results:

With over 5,000 voted, with 88% thinking that Obi-Wan Kenobi will draw in more views and have a standout premiere than Loki. That is confidence in Kenobi. It does have that potential. It is, after all, the one series that the majority of fans have been wanting for years now. Love or hate the prequels, Ewan McGregor's performance has always been praised. I'm not the biggest fan of Episode II: Attack of the Clones. But Ewan, to me, is the best thing about that film. Would like to add, though, I am loving that The Book of Boba Fett is adding to it, connecting to it with flashbacks.

Although there is no release date for Obi-Wan Kenobi, we just know that it'll debut at some point this year. Though if I was a betting man, I'd go with what my gut is telling me. May 4th. Why that date? Well, there are a couple of Obi-Wan-related books coming out in May. So it would make sense to release them around the same time as the series. And if you want to play "process of elimination," The Book of Boba Fett is debuting now till the beginning of February, and it makes sense for the third season of The Mandalorian to debut around the same time as seasons 1 & 2 at the end of October.

But what do you think? Do you think Obi-Wan Kenobi will surpass Loki as the most-watched premiere on Disney+?
