Sagittarius with Virgo Rising

My window to understanding the stars

Growing up I often got strange advice from my grandmother. Her name is Elizabeth Hughes and she has studied astrology for a majority of her life. From celebrity star charts to serial killers, she has studied thousands of peoples natal charts finding a huge variety of patterns in the planets that clue her into what traits a person may have, what medical problems they may face and how well they can mentally cope with the world around them.

She has a habit of reading her family's charts pretty regularly to get insight into what the universe has planned for us and she will try to indirectly help us out with her oddly timed advice. For example, Apparently she read in my chart that I would become a sexually active individual when I was still pretty young so for a while I heard lots of "Mollie you better not become pregnant", "Mollie why must you hang out with all these boys?", "You're quiet Mollie but I know you more than you think". Honestly, she was right in her suspicions but I still did what I wanted to, a typical trait for a Sagittarius. She is right a lot of the time! She predicted the exact days of birth for all of her grandchildren, even though some of us came early and others late. She forced my uncle and I to get tested for Diabetes based off our charts and we both tested positive. She knew my father would die early in my life and that he would cause his own death. Growing up she never shared that with us but we saw how she acted around dad, the way she harped him about all of his bad habits "Tom! you're going to kill yourself drinking and smoking all the time!". Unfortunately she was right again.

I can't say I have always been a believer in Astrology. My whole life I have truly enjoyed listening to my grandmother tell me about myself based on what the planets showed her. She would share with me glimpses into my future and give me advice on what choices I should make when the times came. I always listened and contemplated what she said but rarely made the choice she recommended. I was not convinced that my grandmother or astrology knew what was best for me. I can't dismiss the countless times she has been right though, and my chart describes me perfectly, the good and the bad.

I have this amazing opportunity in life to be able to sit down with my grandmother and have her read my chart to me. Growing up I didn't see her a lot so it became a tea time tradition to delve deep into her studies in astrology whenever I visited. Sometimes I would bring her my friends charts and listen to her tell me, accurately, all about my friends who she had never met. Most of the time though, we focused on my chart.

I am a Sagittarius with Virgo rising and that means a lot when it comes to my personality, who I get along with and my outlook on life. Ultimately, it is where my planets sit in my chart that gives true insight into who I am though. Each sign has similarities but how the planets are positioned in relation to one another is going to be different for everyone and make huge changes in who they are as a person.

I was born on December 3rd 1991 at roughly 10:17 PM in Plymouth Massachusetts. My chart is what Astrologers would call a "Basket" chart, meaning all of my planets are on one side. This gives me well directed energy in knowing what I want in life and working towards my goals.

Jupiter is in Virgo. This is huge in my chart and why I say I have "Virgo Rising". I am not an astrologer and can't tell you why it is so significant but, according to my grandmother, it's important for me. This shows I love learning, I'm modest, thoughtful, methodical and intuitive. I have a tendency to think practically, analytically and honestly. I am cautious but not easily imposed upon and I am very careful in my choice of acquaintances and friendships. Due to Jupiter's relation to another planet in my chart, I am also most likely going to be overweight for most of my life.

Saturn is in Aquarius in my chart so my relationships in life are often longer term and no shorter than a few years. It shows I am a deep thinker and deliberate in my actions. I also enjoy refining my mind through study, observation and experience. It makes me unresentful, friendly, and sociable. Having this planet in Aquarius also helps me excel in the fields of art and science. If Astrology is accurate I should also see more fortune in my later years of life.

My moon is in Scorpio showing that I am fond of pleasurable things and have a need to satisfy my sense of taste. It also hints to me being courageous, positive and, due to its negative aspects to other planets on my chart, it shows that I am unable to or will have severe complications with childbirth.

Venus in Libra enhances my love for the arts. It also shows that I am kind, refined in my affections and again sociable. It can show that rely on my partners for financial support more often than most people.

Having Mars in Sagittarius gives me an active mind. Mentally I am brave, fearless of the opinions of others, fond of adventure and travel. This planet also gives me good mechanical abilities and ingenuity.

Uranus in Capricorn gives me good reasoning ability and intensifies my Ambition. It disrupts my seriousness though, making me less stern and giving me the appearance of being "carefree". This planet brings me my restlessness and unease when it comes to conforming to established systems and can cause me to be seen as eccentric at times. Due to the relationship this planet has with others in my chart, It also tells me my father will pass away early in my life.

Neptune is also nestled away in Capricorn promising me a very stressful, troublesome early childhood, damaging my relationships with my parents and allowing me to go into severe fits of depression seasonally. The only good thing Neptune brings me is my fearlessness and secretive nature.

The craziest thing about all of this information is that it's all true. I can't argue any of it. My childhood wasn't really a good one, my father did pass away early in my life, I can't have children, I love art and traveling and science! I make a huge conscious effort to refine my mind and seek out new experiences in life and I'm not happy staying in one place, working the same job, doing the same things every day. My goal in life is to live off grid and dedicate my time to traveling, crafting, farming and studying the world around me.

Maybe there is some truth to Astrology. The idea that we could be so connected to our solar system that our personalities and ways of thinking are decided by the position of surrounding planets, that our paths in life are guided in ways we cannot control, is it really that crazy? My grandmother wasn't a believer at first, just a young woman interested in learning something new. After attending a seminar on astrology she fell in love with the idea of it and made the effort to continue studying on her own time. She wasn't born with a magical ability to tell the future or read your mind, she simply dedicated years of her life to studying the science she loves. She learned how to read the planets, how to use them to predict upcoming events and she is rarely ever wrong.
