It is rumored that Spider-Man director, Jon Watts, will be joining Star Wars. Jon Watts is reportedly scheduled to direct at least one of the episodes of a new Disney+ Star Wars series. The episode appears to be one of the episodes for the new High Republic series. The working title for the show is "Grammar Rodeo" with Jon Favreau as an executive producer. The High Republic series is set to start filming in the summer of 2022 in Los Angeles. The rumors about the new project have finally surfaced. However, it will not be a Simpsons/Star Wars crossover, as the working title implies, but something the fanbase might like even more, about the High Republic era.

Choosing Jon Watts to help with the new series, which has been described as “Stranger Things in space”, might be a decision based on his experience with youngsters in the Spider-Man series of movies. He has extensive filming experience with youths such as Zendaya and Tom Holland. Jon Watts has been very successful with this age group. The High Republic series, working title Grammar Rodeo, is looking to cast pre-teens and teenagers. Disney+, Lucasfilm, and fans hope that Jon Watts brings a plethora of success to the show. Jon Watts' success is demonstrated by the box office success he had with Spider-Man: No Way Home. This movie is the sixth best box office run ever. Jon Watts is extremely busy though, with other MCU projects such as MCU’s Fantastic Four and the sixth episode of Final Destination.

The Star Wars series, Grammar Rodeo, fills in the timeline during a time when the Galactic Republic was at its greatest strength and the demise of the Jedi had not occurred yet. The series is interesting because it helps the fanbase learn about the period that has only been speculated upon. Bringing this period to live-action is also exciting, and it just seems to be the right time for it. The cast of a younger generation is also appealing to Star Wars because of the possibility of massive success and appeal, and provided Star Wars with an opportunity to introduce and become familiar with the younger generation. This is where Jon Watts can assist with any transition challenges that Star Wars, Lucasfilm, and the producers may face.

As the Star Wars fanbase is aware there are many projects in place through 2023 right now. This new series about the High Republic era is exciting. The project brews with so many more stories, return of characters, and the debuts of new characters in a galaxy far, far away. The fanbase is now getting what it has always wanted, the whole story of Star Wars. The funny thing is the biggest fan of Star Wars, George Lucas, is probably really getting what he originally wanted to do, expand Star Wars and his characters’ trials and tribulations within the universe he created. This leaves a lot for thought regarding what the Star Wars universe is really about and how the nine Star Wars episodes came to be.

Although filled with excitement and expectations, the fanbase will be well occupied with the other Disney+ Star Wars series that are debuting and premiering this year. Obi-Wan Kenobi is set to debut May 24, The Bad Batch will release its second season sometime this year, Andor is set to debut in the Autumn, while Ahsoka is set to debut before then. Let’s not forget The Mandalorian, Season 3 is expected to premier around Christmas-time. Everyone knows the seat-grabbing adventures of Grogu and Din Djarin. The other series have not disappointed and there are only high expectations for the new series to come. As May the 4th gets closer, the fanbase can only anticipate more information about the new High Republic series.
