What is Science Fiction? ( Is a question that many ponder as they organize the various estrangements of writing genre that they are familiar with in so any senses of the words 'science' and 'fiction'.)

To break down the genre one must also break down the words that make up what this universal-categories of artistic composition and what they mean to so many people in so many different affiliations. The word Science is a strange and wondrous study of so many universal concepts, that the word itself is a vague but ever consuming description of so many different plots in the ability to study the world around us. Science in itself being such a strange concept to grasp as it is the ability to break down and understand the ability to grasp knowledge, making even the base and simple use of the word a bizarre oxymoron ( an word or description that contradicts itself.).

Science to some is a pain staking consumption of time that is both simple and complicated through a process that uses laser guided focus to break apart the secrets of the universe; the laser itself a work a science as only so many studies into the depth of intrigue get us closer to where we seek to be, witch is a position yet to be understood.

Opposed to Science is the word Fiction, the innate understanding that our ability to make things up as we go along is also an idea of understanding the world around us through the strange and often fantastic ability to tell stories and present fantastic creations through the idea that our ability to make things up is how we cope with ideas that just cannot simply be explained by common knowledge. So putting these words together creates a study of what is means to create through trial and error, and in that we have the ability to present the individual beauty within ourselves as a truth universal truth; and yet, at the same time as a lie that makes more sense then a fact yet to be known.

So many might ask- "What is the science of science fiction; what is the ability to break down an emotional understanding of the world into something that means more than just an equation, but more of emotion, a thought, a moment in time that can only be measure in a dimension yet to be named or found?" - and to that question many of the wisest men on earth could only answer- "That is for only you to know; and for everyone else to find out."

Science Fiction is an art form as old as the Bible itself, and is not a genre to be confused with the likes of "Fantasy" or its bitter sweat cousin "Fiction", or its full on hard boiled brother "Sci-Fi". "Science Fiction" is in itself a genre so brash that those to practice it have been founders of entire secretive society, and leaders of industries that where once thought to bee a fools dream. The First, Full-Length-Feature-Film; was the work of a science fiction writer who's work once inspired the fear of an entire nation.

H.G Wells who wrote "The Time Machine", and "War of the Worlds" could have been said to have what could be considered a "Sixth Sense" when it came to his divination of Science facts and crack pot theories, and like most Science Fiction Writers he was often turned away from and ridiculed by both the science and the writing communities for writing in a genre invented by non other than Marry Shelly (the Author of "Frankenstein Monster").

Some say it takes Super natural ability to write in the genre of some of the greatest artistic minds of all time. But to those who do not know, it takes a great deal of faith, hard work, study in your craft, and the bravery to break away from society all together in order to fill in the dark spots of our past and future that most are to scared to think about.

"Science fiction" a subtle and poetic art form, made to be both the highest and lowest point of human creativity. And the true science of it is, the nature to understand the absence of science and what that might mean to the rest of the world.

To those hoping to write in the Genre of Science fiction, i can only hope you well and wish you good luck. Like the men who once set foot on the moon, we are all only watching in awe as someone takes the first steps to go father and deeper into the darkness of universal abyss, than anyone has ever gone before, and when you want the word that gave meaning to your life to stand as a monument to who you where as an explorer into the unknown. Epitome Publishing will be here waiting for you.
