It was a rainbow lightning. Yes, Aron could clearly see bright violet, magnificent indigo, brilliant blue, fluorescent green, glittering yellow, fiery orange and crimson red stripes of exquisite patterns of lightning coming down from a strange purple cloud. It was wonderful, amazing, and otherworldly. He could even hear the screams of joy and fear of people seeing it.

Then he woke up and opened his eyes. For first few minutes he couldn’t even believe that it was merely a dream. It was so vivid, so strong, and so lively! It was so real to him! He clearly saw the colors. Somewhere he heard that people always dream in black and white. But his dream was in color!

He closed his eyes to fall asleep, expected to see the dream again. He fell asleep and he saw something, but not quite the thing he wanted to see. He saw a rosy dawn, with little rosy clouds floating in air, like flowers in the sky. From that dream, he also woke up and realized that it was a dream. But somehow, he expected that.

Then, that dream rainbow lightning and rosy dawn came back. It kept coming back again and again. First slowly, once a week. Then its frequency increased, almost every other night, Aron began to experience that strange dream.

After seeing the five repetitions of rainbow dream, Aron decided to tell his best friend, Brad. So far, he did not tell anybody.

After the morning classes, when they were eating lunch together, Aron said, “Brad, I would like to tell you a strange thing. But promise, you won’t tell anybody.”

Brad was surprised, Aron’s voice was so serious and still so hesitating! It was not at all like Aron he knew. They were best friends from their first grade. Now they are in their eighth grade. For these many years, Brad never heard Aron to have such hesitating and uncertain voice.

Brad said, “What happened buddy? Your voice is so different! Even you look different. What happened?”

Aron’s face turned grayish, his words faltered, “Do I look different? How? ”

Brad said, “Umm… I can’t say clearly … your face didn’t change much…but it’s something which I feel… you had magnificent, joyful blue eyes before…now they are blue and beautiful but somewhat sad and misty. ”

Aron whispered, “Brad, I have a dream, a strange dream. It keeps coming back. I am seeing the dream every other night. I don’t know what to do.”

Brad’s eyes widened, he said, “What kind of dream? What do you see in that dream? ”

Aron told Brad about his dream of rainbow lightning. Brad listened without a word, only widening his eyes more. His heart was pounding.

After listening all, there was a long silence. Then Brad whispered, “I, too, have a dream.”

Aron asked, “You, too? What kind of dream? Did it repeat? How many times did you have that dream?”

Brad closed his eyes as if trying to remember. Then he said softly, “I can’t say what kind of dream I had. It was not very clear. It was foggy, it was like the touch of the wings of a butterfly, one moment you feel it, next moment it is gone. I can’t describe what I saw in my dream, but it was a strange dream. Yes, it repeated. Nights after nights that strange dream came to me. One night in my ream I found myself on an unknown place near a huge waterfall, but the water was not the water we know. That strange waterfall’s water had the color of bluish-orange. I wanted to touch it, but it disappeared. I woke up.”
