Quantum Dream Offers Snide "Correction" To 'Star Wars: Eclipse' Delay Rumors

What's Going On With The Highly Anticipate Game?

The Star Wars franchise has been working on multiple video games for release in the next few years. All of them are highly anticipated, and fans have been waiting eagerly for any news that comes their way. With the sequels release and the shows on Disney+, fans are hungry for more stories and games from the Star Wars universe. While some video games are slotted to come out in the next year, others have yet to get a release date and fans are speculating when they might be released. One such game is Star Wars Eclipse.

In 2022, Quantic Dream, the developer for Star Wars Eclipse, released a game trailer that excited many Star Wars fans. However, there was no release date set and many fans are wondering if it will be coming out any time soon or if the project has been delayed. Recently, Quantic Dream released a statement that seemed to indicate that the video game was still on track for release and was not delayed. Quantic Dream is well-known for projects such as Heavy Rain and Detroit: Become Human as well as their elements of interactive drama and action gameplay, which are both prevalent in their games.

Quantic Dream first announced that they had a Star Wars game coming at The Game Awards in 2021. Star Wars Eclipse is so heavily anticipated by fans because it is the first video game set in the High Republic era. Not only will the game have elements from the Star Wars novels, but it will also include content, storylines, and characters from the comic-books, and live-action series, as well as other Star Wars video games, which is something that hasn’t been done before. Some of these storylines/characters have yet to be released in their source material, which could be one factor in why we don’t yet know when Star Wars Eclipse is set to release. The Star Wars franchise has been wanting to focus more on the High Republic era in a lot of their mediums, and this game would play right into that.

The High Republic era follows the Old Republic era, which means that it happens roughly 200 years before the timeline of the Star Wars movies. So, we will most likely not see anything that is seen in the movies since that is so far removed from the timeline. The gameplay will be narrative driven, which is going to allow players to explore the story themselves. Which is exciting to many fans.

There have been multiple reports, however, of delays in the making and release of Star Wars Eclipse, with some going so far to say that the game will not be released until 2027. Quantic Dream recently reached out to GamesRadar with a small, quiet correction. Quantic Dream claimed that they never actually gave a release date to the world, which of course means that it would be impossible for it to be considered delayed past a certain non-existent date. The statement in question reads;

"Star Wars Eclipse has not been delayed because Quantic Dream never announced or promised a launch window for the title. Recruiting remains active as it works on Star Wars Eclipse, third-party publishing, and unannounced projects."

Of course, this is true, but the question still remains about whether the game is slated to launch in 2027 or not. Some fans have wondered if the delay could be due to accusations and investigations about a toxic and abusive work place within Quantic Dream. This has been reported on, but is not a firm fact as of now. Whether or not it would play a role in the delay of the game remains unclear.

The comment by Quantic Dream is interesting because it doesn’t give us much to go on. Which leads to more speculation on when the game will be released or if it could still go to the chopping block. As of right now, there has been nothing officially announced, which means that Star Wars Eclipse may be far from being finished or Quantic Dream could be planning a big reveal. Who knows? For now, fans will have to wait.
