Possible 'The Bad Batch' Leak Reveals Main Story Plot Point

How Could This Play Out?

***Potenital Spoilers for Star Wars: The Bad Batch Ahead***

As it stands at the moment, it would appear that it is going to be several months before we see further live-action Star Wars projects on our screens. (The Book of Boba Fett comes out in December 2021.) Although we know there are more than a few planned, most have yet to actually set a production date.

In the meantime, Lucasfilm has The Bad Batch ready to launch on Disney+ to tide us over. It will premiere on our screens on May the 4th. This new animated series will focus on a squad of clone troopers who were introduced in Season 7 of The Clone Wars animated TV series. Each member of the team has a specific and unique skill set, which will no doubt be relied upon throughout the show's run. The squad includes Crosshair, Echo, Hunter, Tech, and Wrecker.

Despite the show launching in the coming weeks, we still know very little about it. Only recently we found out it will likely be at least 14 episodes long, but that was thanks to an indirect comment made by composer Kevin Kiner during an interview on the podcast Full of Sith. We have yet to receive any concrete plot details other than the trailer showing that it will take place in the wake of Order 66, which saw the extinction of pretty much the entire Jedi Order. However, thanks to a post on Instagram by LEGO leaker @lego_fulcrum, we may have been given some details of a possible good old fashioned double cross...

The post is a photo containing a list of LEGO minifigures set to be released to tie in with the animated show, and there are two specific entries that are of great interest.

Firstly, according to this, Bad Batch squadmate Echo will appear without his trademark screwdiver-like hand, suggesting he has followed in the footsteps of Luke and Anakin by receiving a human-like replacement. More than likely, however, this will come down to LEGO not being known for making new molds for specialized hand pieces often. But who knows?

The second entry on the list, which is so much more interesting than the first, is the character Crosshair apparently releasing with an Imperial Suit. Considering he is the dedicated sniper of Clone Force 99 (the official name of The Bad Batch), this could suggest that he will switch sides at some point and could possibly become a secondary or main antagonist. Considering that we know the vast majority of clones where successfully turned against the Jedi and Republic following Order 66, it is hardly out of the question. It could also be a red herring and hint at him merely pretending to join forces with the Empire due to trying to infiltrate a base for a rescue or retrieve data, something we've seen numerous times throughout the Star Wars franchise. For now, we can only speculate, but the full leaked list can be seen below.

Regular Clone troopers are featured throughout most of the trailer, so it is likely that he may not don the Imperial armor until later on in the series. But again, details are still unknown right now.

What do you think? Will we lose another clone to Order 66, or is it all just a clever red herring to get us pumped up for the release?

The Bad Batch is due to premiere on Disney+ on May 4th, so we won't have a long to wait to find out.

Until next time!
