One Punch Man is a japanese anime series. It's also known as Wanpanman. Nowadays it's treated as a superhero franchise. A mysterious artist named ONE wrote the manga. The story revolves around Saitama who is a superhero. He becomes so strong that he can beat any opponent with a single punch. Being so strong, he defeats everyone easily so he gets bored because of this. That is the gist of the main character. The writer published this story on the internet as a webcomic in early 2009.

Manga

The main manga was released on the internet in 2009. However Shueisha liked it and decided to publish it in Jump Comics. Although Shueisha realised the potential very late, the comic still became popular. Later Viz Media licensed this manga to launch it in North America. The manga is supposed to come on a weekly basis. It was released on 14th June, 2012 and the manga is still ongoing. It has a total of twenty three volumes.

Anime

After the manga got popular Madhouse studio announced an anime over it. Three years afterwards, the anime was released. The first episode was aired on 5th October, 2015. It has a total of 24 episodes in first seasons with 12 OVAs (Original Video Animations). This anime has two seasons. The first season was directed by Shingo Natsume. The story writer was Tomohiro Suzuki. Crunchyroll, Viz Media and Muse Communication licensed the anime to release it overseas. Crunchyroll SAS released it in Europe. Viz media released it in Australia and North America and Muse Communication released in South Asia and in other countries. One Punch Man season 1 english sub and dub is available. After the first season the season 2 was produced by a different studio. It was J.C.Staff and they hired a different director too. The studio hired Chikara Sakurai instead of Shingo Natsume. However the writer was the same. That's the reason it didn't look too odd to watch.

Plot

The story takes place in a different world. It has a supercontinent just like pangea. There are also super villains who want to cause havoc in the cities. To tackle the situation, the millionaire Agoni creates the Hero Association that employs superhero to fight those evils. Saitama, an unassociated hero, hails from City Z and performs heroic deeds for his own enjoyment. He has trained himself to the point of being able to defeat any enemy with a single punch, but his unmatched strength has left him with an overwhelming sense of boredom. Saitama eventually becomes a reluctant mentor to Genos, a cyborg seeking revenge against another cyborg who killed his family and destroyed his hometown. Saitama and Genos has to join the Hero Association. Saitama is placed at a low-entry rank because he scored a low score in entry written exam and his feats remain unnoticed and unappreciated by the public.

Similarities with The Promised Never Land

The anime has a little similarityThe Promised Never Land season 1 english sub and dub. Just like One Punch Man, the start of the story is same. Both anime has two seasons and the third season is upcoming. The concept may look similar as well.

Final Words

One Punch Man anime is quite popular around the world. The main reason could be the hero himself as he is too strong for the villains. The writer also added a touch of underestimation. The hero is very strong but no one considers him strong because of his low scoring in exams. So these are the reason the anime is popular.
