The anticipation!

War of the Bounty Hunters is one of the biggest stories to come from the Star Wars comics, and it will lead into the next big story for their comic series set during the original trilogy. Star Wars: Crimson Reign, which was announced last month, is going to be a five-issue limited series, and it will be the second installment of a trilogy of stories that started with War of the Bounty Hunters. This could be shaping up to be one of the first big Star Wars comic events. There have been a few details released that show some pretty prominent characters appearing in the comic series.

The connecting cover of the series, done by the artist of the series Ario Anindito, shows several characters in addition to Qi’ra. The cross cover depicts an Imperial pilot, the Emperor, a Knight of Ren, and Darth Vader. This seems to imply that they may be major players in the upcoming Crimson Reign. It is possible Qi’ra may even find herself under pursuit from Vader and the Empire or dealing with the Knights of Ren. After all, she attracts the attention of Vader during their encounter in War of the Bounty Hunters. This is also a far cry from where she was at the end of Solo: A Star Wars Story when it was revealed that Maul had been leading Crimson Dawn the entire time. While some of her story has been told in War of the Bounty Hunters, fans hope to learn more about her in Crimson Reign.

The writer of War of the Bounty Hunters Charles Soule will also be penning Crimson Reign. He tells IGN about what fans can expect from his newest work in regards to Qi’ra and how she is connected to everything happening at this time.

“While Qi’ra plays a huge part in War of the Bounty Hunters, that event is really a Boba Fett Story. I have a bigger story I’m going to tell with Qi’ra and Crimson Dawn, and it’s all connected to the reasons she kicked things off in War of the Bounty Hunters in the first place. You’ll learn more about that in the closing pages of War of the Bounty Hunters #5, out in October, and I think fans have no idea how exciting and new this story will feel.”

Charles Soule is known for his work in many popular Star Wars comic series like Darth Vader: Dark Lord of the Sith (2017), and Rise of Kylo Ren. With War of the Bounty Hunters, he has been able to introduce a new story in the short amount of time between Boba Fett leaving Bespin to arriving in Tatooine with the carbonite frozen Han Solo, a time period that no one has thought to explore before. It will be great to see what he can do with Qi’ra. She is a fan-favorite character from Solo: A Star Wars Story, and fans have been clamoring for her to have her own film or Disney+ series. While this may not be the solo (no pun intended) outing that fans have hoped for, it is at least exploring her story in an interesting way. From the looks of the cover, she will be up against fiercer Sith than just Maul, so it will be interesting to see how all these characters are brought into the story.

The story is shaping up to be an amazing and epic saga for the comics. War of the Bounty Hunters is still underway, and it has been impressive thus far. Crimson Reign is slated for release in December 2021 so fans will not have to wait long for the return of Qi’ra. There is also the third part of the story that Soule has referred to, which will hopefully release sometime next year. There is no detail about it yet, but it looks to be an epic conclusion to this comic series, but there is no details about it. Fans will surely gain some insight when Crimson Reign releases at the end of the year.
