My world ended the day aliens invaded earth to rule over humans because they were looking for a new home and saw us as the weaker species. When we got the announcement from the president we left everything but the clothes on our backs and ran for the forest, where we would be safe along with other families. Me being the fastest got to the tree line before the rest of my family could. After they were gone there was no one else left except me and the heart shaped locket my mother gifted to me. Inside the locket was a portrait of my parents taken before I was born.
The day that they were taken from me will be a day I will never forget.
That day was five years ago and since then I've been waiting, watching from the trees, surviving off of what I find in the woods and fresh water and making a plan to save my family and find a safer place to live, since then I've been in hiding, watching from the safety of the trees. Witnessing the downfall of my community, silently watching the hatred and malice caused by fear. Wanting nothing more than revenge for what they've done to all those poor people. I've seen countless families be thrown out of their houses and be forced to watch as their houses are burnt to the ground. All their memories and everything they own, left to nothing but ashes. I've seen people having to live on the streets with limited supplies, having to scrounge around for food.
I've seen the homeless be imprisoned by the aliens and taken to wherever they came from and the alien's come back as a clone of the person they took. It would be impossible to tell the difference except the Clones come back stronger and have a better build than the homeless people on the street because the homeless are very malnourished. I never know what happens to the people that are unlucky enough to be taken but I know that it isn't anything good. After some time of watching and planning, I was ready to put my plan into affect.
For years I've seen the Clones guard the streets searching for any "lost souls" as they call us. So I would have to be extra quiet and careful if I wanted to get by undetected, slowly I exited the trees making sure to watch for any Clones coming my way. Staying hidden by the shadows I moved swiftly through the empty streets to the inner city where they take and imprison the people they take. Hidden by the buildings I begin searching for any of my family members and instantly I see all four of my siblings huddled together in a line with the other children.
When they see me crouched behind a building they start to get excited but know they cant move or they'll risk me getting caught. I knew that I had to move quickly otherwise I would never get the chance again. I kept watching for an opportunity to run in and get them. When the guard that was watching the children turned away, I knew that that was my chance. I tried not to make a sound as I ran over to them motioning for them to stay quiet, I had to find a way to carry all 4 of them at once because I knew I'd only have one chance to get them all out. Putting one child on my back, I carried one on each of my sides and the youngest on the front.
Before we had had the chance to leave we got spotted by a Clone and would have gotten captured if we had stayed. Remembering the way I came, staying hidden by the shadows, I made my way back to the forest. I was two streets from the entrance of the forest when I heard footsteps behind me and knew I was about to be caught and I wouldn't be able to get all of us away a second time. I knew that at that moment I wouldn't have any other choice but to cross the street and be seen by the clone. I had to run but I was so tired from carrying my siblings that I was going to drop from exhaustion any second.
I knew I was to tired to carry all of them across the street so I had to think of something and fast. I had just decided that we would all have to run to the forest to, I had the older two put the younger children on their backs and with one hand holding onto my siblings on each side we ran. We were just about to cross the threshold of the forest when out of the corner of my eye I saw a Clone coming our way, in a panicky state I realized that we were out in the open but knew that we'd be safe by crossing into the forest. Once in the forest we ran to where I set up camp for myself all those years ago and we were finally able to take a break and I had a chance to really look at them and make sure they were ok.
Looking at them I noticed that they were super skinny, like they hadn't eaten in days, they had bags under their eyes like they haven't slept and they were kind of pale. After I made them some dinner and we drank some water we fell asleep in the tent that I had. Waking up early the next morning I knew I had to sneak back into back into town to get more supplies for us. Quietly I made my way out of the tent and towards my old ghost town, Arriving at the tree line I carefully snuck through the streets to the shopping center making sure to stay hidden. In the shopping center I got four sleeping bags, two tents, a bunch of clothes, some pillows, and some cans of food that were left on the shelves.
When I got back I knew they were still asleep so I stayed outside and waited for them to get up. By the time they got up it was lunch time, as we were eating lunch I asked them if they know what happened to our parents and they told me that they day they died the day they were captured. After they told me that I wanted to break down into tears but knew I couldn't, I had to be strong for my siblings. After lunch I told them that I got them some stuff and showed all the things I got for them. We were able to set everything up before the sun set and made that are own little home.
Its been two years since I got them back and we've been on the run ever since trying to find a place to call home.
