Moff Gideon Actor Giancarlo Esposito's Daughters Pleaded For Him Not To Hurt Grogu, His Response Was Priceless

By now, you have probably seen the season 2 finale for The Mandalorian. Many were worried about Grogu, given that he was kidnapped by Moff Gideon a couple of episodes prior. We saw the lengths that Din Djarin would go through in order to retrieve Grogu, even going so far as to take off his helmet. Thankfully, Din got a team together and was successful in retrieving Grogu before he needed to be given away. Many people cried over the departure of Grogu for the show, and there is speculation that people might not follow the show as closely now that Grogu is out for the time being. Only time will tell whether this comes true. However, Moff Gideon, though apparently in custody, seems like he could still be in the picture in some way. He has been an interesting villain so far, and we learned that he just wanted Grogu's blood for...something. It is still a bit of a mystery, which may lead one to believe that this thread is not yet finished. Could he go after Grogu again?

The Twitter account Star Wars Facts (@StarWarsTweets) shared the following fact recently:

"Giancarlo Esposito's daughters watch #TheMandalorian and they texted him one time and said ‘Papa, please don’t hurt that baby. Don’t hurt that baby’

His response was ‘I will squash that little big-eared bastard'"

This tidbit actually came about in an article by IGN at the beginning of the year. The quote is as follows:

"My four daughters watch this and obviously the world is like, 'It's the Baby Yoda show,' and I'm never jealous or have any problem with that, but I have to say, two of my daughters texted me and two of them [called] me: 'Papa, please don't hurt that baby. Don't hurt that baby.' And I said, 'I will squash that little big-eared bastard,'"

Even though this was clearly a joke, Esposito was very quick to put out the flames right away during the interview.

"Joke, joke, joke. You know, what we can do with technology today and what a human story we can make out of Mandalorian -- this baby encompasses all of that, and we want to have that hope for our future, especially now in our world."

He is certainly right about that. Grogu and how he has affected Din Djarin have been the human heart of The Mandalorian. Now that Grogu is out of the picture, it is difficult to imagine how the show going forward will still be able to key into the sort of emotional weight that made it so great to begin with. While I do not believe that Grogu is out of the show for good, I do think that we may go a little while before seeing him again, and that Gideon is still hell bent on fulfilling his own agenda. Given how he seemed to fear Luke Skywalker enough to try to shoot himself, though, would he even be willing to try and take Grogu from the Jedi Master himself? Judging from what we saw of Luke's abilities, Gideon would probably need a good number of forces aiding him in such a mission. For now, the viewers can rest easy knowing that Grogu is safe from Gideon's grasp. Esposito's daughters got their wish, even if it may not have been necessarily what influenced the direction of Grogu's fate. Sooner or later, we will probably see Grogu again, and Lucasfilm will figure out ways to keep him alive forever, I am sure. He is too popular of a character for anything bad to happen to him.
