Back when there were rumors that Luke Skywalker might make an appearance on the season finale of Disney+’s The Mandalorian, fans wanted the Winter Soldier himself, Sebastian Stan, to take on the role of young Luke. When the season finale premiered on Disney+, fans were a bit disappointed that Stan wasn’t playing young Luke.

The resemblance between Sebastian Stan and young Mark Hamill is extraordinary. Fans from all over the world have been begging Stan to play young Luke in future Star Wars appearances. Fans have also asked Lucasfilm to strongly consider this option.

After all the pressure from the fans, Stan finally gave his opinion on playing young Luke in future Star Wars projects. Stan told the fans that if he ever had the honor to take on the role, he’d need an OK from Luke Skywalker himself, Mr. Mark Hamill.

After Stan’s response, fans understood his point of view on wanting Mark’s approval to take on the role of young Luke. At the beginning of this week, Mark Hamill himself replied to Stan’s opinion on getting his approval.

“This assumes I have any say in casting decisions at Lucasfilm when in fact…. I don’t.”

In 2018, Mark Hamill was also asked the same question about having Stan play Luke. Hamill said that Stan does not need his seal of approval, as he’s great at everything he does. Stan wanting Hamill’s approval to play Luke in any future Star Wars project does not come from the actor wanting any privileges. Rather, this is more of a sign of respect for Mark himself, and the character of Luke Skywalker. Stan knows that taking on the role of Luke is a huge spot to fill, and if he ever did take on the role of Luke, he’d want to honor a character we’ve all loved for so many years.

Luke Skywalker is one of the most important symbols of hope for the Skywalker saga. The farmboy who becomes one of the most powerful Jedi in the entire history of the Jedi religion. He is also the one who brought the Chosen One back into the light, and helped Rey into her journey to the force. All these things make him a super important character to the Skywalker saga, and to Star Wars, which is why it is important for Stan to honor the character of Luke, and for that reason, he’d like Hamill’s opinion.

Although the idea of Sebastian Stan playing young Luke Skywalker in future Star Wars projects is just a fan dream for now, he would make an amazing young Luke Skywalker, in this humble writer’s opinion. Sebastian Stan is a super talented actor who always surprises his fans with every performance he delivers.

The Star Wars universe is extremely huge, and it is always evolving. Even if the story of Luke Skywalker is over, The Mandalorian season two is proof that Luke has the potential of making more appearances in future Star Wars projects. One of the things that made fans extremely happy to see Luke in the season finale of The Mandalorian season two was being able to see Luke Skywalker in his prime time.

Although we got to see Luke’s journey to Jedi knighthood, we never got to see the full extent of young Luke’s true power or skills onscreen. Until, of course, Luke showed up in the season finale of The Mandalorian, and took down a whole battalion of Dark Troopers. Whether or not Sebastian Stan takes on the role of young Luke in future Star Wars projects, it will be amazing to see Master Skywalker in action again.
