Mark Hamill Left Speechless By 'Mandalorian' Star Ming-Na Wen's Tweet About Him

A Heartwarming Response

Is it safe now? Is it safe to talk openly about that scene that everyone has been talking about anyway? Okay. Just making sure. (Clears throat.)

So at the end of The Mandalorian season 2, lots of fans' wishes came true when they saw Luke Skywalker swinging around the green lightsaber again and taking in Grogu to train the young (and fan favorite) Force user. While having Luke appear on the show may have seemed like a longshot to some, it makes sense that he would at least be mentioned in this era. To some like myself, it is surprising that he showed up this early in the series, but many fans have praised the scene. And as it turned out, Mark Hamill was involved with it and managed to keep it a secret for a very long time. It actually is pretty impressive that details about this scene did not leak at all, in this age where we are so used to news outlets reporting on appearances of characters like Cobb Vanth, Bo-Katan, and Ahsoka Tano. Mark Hamill himself has been stunned (in a good way) by all the fan reaction, as he expresses in the following tweet:

"#NoWords-Seeing fan's reactions to Luke's return is something I will cherish forever. Their anticipation seeing the X-Wing/Ep. 6 Robes/a lightsaber/a GREEN lightsaber/a gloved hand/an ungloved hand/a Force choke/R2-was OVERWHELMING & very moving to me"

Many fans have been very emotional about the scene, and Mark Hamill has been overwhelmed with the positive response. This is a scene that will be long remembered by the fans, a shared experience where many felt the same feeling of joy seeing Luke on the screen again. But there is actually at least one actor on the show who is there with the fans in expressing those feelings. Ming-Na Wen, who portrays Fennic Shand on the series and even got to be in the same scene where Luke Skywalker appeared, sent the following tweet in response to Mark Hamill regarding the surprised scene:

"You (& Luke) have been immensely inspirational & impactful to my childhood & as an adult. To have shared a scene with you in @themandalorian is truly one of the biggest highlight, not just in my career, but in my life. Thank you.

Your fan always,

Ming-Na aka Fennec"

While Mark Hamill tends to have no shortage of words, this response left him speechless (perhaps like at the end of The Force Awakens). Below is what he said in response:

"So this happened & I'm literally speechless, other than to say: the pleasure was all mine MingNa! Much [love], Mar [camel]."

The Joker himself does not fail to include some humor in his response, inserting a camel emoji since it sounds like part of his name. It is very sweet to see this much heartwarming goodness go between two Star Wars actors, especially between one who represents the classic and highly revered era and one who is part of the present and near future of the franchise. (Ming-Na Wen will be co-starring alongside Temuera Morrison in The Book of Boba Fett TV series.) Ming-Na Wen was given the opportunity to be in an episode with someone whom she has long looked up to as a fan of the franchise. All of this is surely a dream come true for her. And you can bet that there are probably other Star Wars actors who were very happy to see their hero Luke Skywalker make an appearance on The Mandalorian.
