Life Out There

what's the real answer?

This was a little thing I wrote way back in late 2015. I know that many things have changed with space travel and finding proof that life exists out there. But I just wanted to share my thinking from a couple of years ago. So enjoy my little side thought about life and finding life in other galaxies.

Life Out There.

“If it is just us, then it is a terrible waste of space.”

From the first day, people were put on this planet to today, everyone has wondered whether or not there is life outside of our galaxy. Things like UFOs have been seen in paintings dating as far back as anyone could remember. But no matter how many facts there are that show that there could be life, there are many facts that state there is no possible way that there could be any life outside of our own galaxy. But then again there are many things that NASA has found that state life could be out there, life could be found in other galaxies. So, what's the real answer?

“The number of Earth-like planets is much higher than Jupiter-sized giants. The rough estimate is that there are at least 10 billion terrestrial planets across our galaxy alone --one of the estimated 500 billion galaxies in the Universe”, stated in an article written by Daily Galaxy, “On December 5, NASA's Kepler mission has confirmed its first planet in the "habitable zone," the region around a star where liquid water could exist on a planet's surface. The newly confirmed planet, Kepler-22b, is the smallest yet found to orbit in the middle of the habitable zone of a star similar to our sun. The planet is about 2.4 times the radius of Earth. Scientists don't yet know if Kepler-22b has a predominantly rocky, gaseous or liquid composition, but its discovery is a step closer to finding Earth-like planets.” So, if NASA found so many planets out there in our galaxy that is just like earth, with land and water, then why are people saying that there is no life out there?

So, I did some research and when finding a planet NASA uses five different ways. They search for:

*Wobble: orbiting stars will wobble in place changing the color of light that astronomers see.

*Searching for shadows: when a planet passes between an observer and a star it dims the planet’s light.

*Taking pictures: astronomers can take pictures of exoplanets by removing the glare

*Light in a gravity lens: the light of a star is bent as it comes close to a planet

*Miniscule movements: a planet can wobble a star when it’s in relation with other stars in the sky.

NASA does so much research every day to find what's out there. I mean they are still looking into the massive galaxy that our own planet is in. So, no, I honestly do not think that we are alone. There is life out there on other planets. I mean they've found water and ice frozen on other planets so doesn't that mean there could be life out there too? I mean they've already found so many other planets in thousands of other galaxies that are just like ours. How can we find the answer? In all honesty, I have no idea how we could even go about finding it. I mean the mission to Mars that NASA is planning is. In my opinion, the first big step. If they can make it to mars, then they can start to make it to any other planet as well. I mean we were able to make it to the moon. Right?
