Astrology and Analysis

Shortly before my twenty-eighth birthday in 2020, a friend of mine (and fellow astrology aficionado) told me that twenty-eight is the year that you are reborn. 2020 was an insane year for everyone regardless of age or zodiac sign. However I did feel as though I went through many changes and had to say goodbye to the old me. With all this in mind, I started realizing that there must be some truth to astrology and what’s “written in the stars” for us. No matter how in-depth you decide to study astrology, one thing to keep in mind (especially if you are still skeptical) is that Astrology can be used as a tool.

My sun sign is Gemini (I’ll talk more about that later). One of our well-known traits is that we are nosey. I prefer to phrase it more positively- we are just very inquisitive. We ALSO like to put a positive spin on everything! I have always been fascinated by astrology because it was one of the first attempts by people to understand others. It leads to introspection and empathy. That’s why I majored in Psychology and minored in Theatre Arts (emphasis on acting). I am constantly intrigued by why people act the way that they do. I also got to study human behavior through scientific and artistic lenses. If you find a Gemini at a social gathering, we will most likely be chatting with someone about astrology. Or just chatting a lot, period (especially after a few drinks). We will find any excuse to connect with someone.

Most books and articles about astrology state both the positive and negative traits of each zodiac sign. The more comprehensive ones point out that you must know your time and place of birth in addition to your date of birth, and study your rising and moon signs to understand the variations between yourself and others with the same sun sign. Using astrology to be more self-aware and express yourself can lead to a richer and more productive life. For example, us Gemini’s love variety so much that we can have a hard time being consistent. A Gemini who is aware of this might be better at actually completing tasks (not just starting them).

I recently read on a fortune cookie that “character is the cornerstone of success.” I was inspired (like I usually am after a good meal) to think more about that. Then it occurred to me that character development is not just the basis of success but also of healthy relationships, which makes success more satisfying. There is also the topic of compatibility. Knowing yourself and others using astrology can lead to better relationships. No family, couple and/or group of friends will get along all the time; however knowing each other’s zodiac signs might prevent certain pitfalls. Learning the positive and negative qualities of each zodiac sign may help you determine who you would want to be in a relationship with, and what particular type of relationship you’d want with them.

Gemini’s value friendship a great deal and we make GREAT friends! We believe that any relationship can work with enough effort. The willingness to understand and accept others (no matter what their sign) is a Gemini’s best trait. We have a zest for life and are always eager to learn more. If we realize that we have hurt someone (it’s usually by accident), us Gemini’s have no problem apologizing. For example, Gemini’s (and other air signs- who tend to have a good sense of humor) may find a particular situation funny that more sensitive and emotional water signs may not. Tact (i.e. keeping our mouth shut) isn’t always our strongest suit.

Above all, Gemini’s need freedom (mental and physical) to function. We can be very high-strung, impractical, noncommittal and indecisive. The term duality always has a significance in the life of a Gemini. I don’t think it’s a matter of being fake, it’s more about being adaptable. Gemini’s never want to stop learning, exploring and evolving. We are also very animated, versatile and like the lighter side of life. We are the ones that will order a bunch of appetizers at a restaurant instead of a meal. We will also try to laugh (and make you laugh) no matter how hurt we are. The multifaceted analysis that I have to offer on myself and life in general is a very Gemini approach as well. #sorrynotsorry
