'Kenobi' Star Admits Fan Theories Make Him Want To Reveal All

Actor O'Shea Jackson Jr., star of the upcoming Disney+ Star Wars series, Obi-Wan Kenobi, seems to be bursting at the seams to spill the beans on what is going to happen in the series.

"It's so hard, it's so hard because like anything that I'll read or see on the internet, I just want to just be like, 'You don't even know, you don't even know what's gonna go down!' All these guesses and people going down the wrong rabbit hole, it's funny to watch. But as soon as I get the green light, I might do a two-hour special talking about everything."

The series, which is slated to premiere sometime in 2022, is set approximately ten years after the events of Revenge of the Sith. Featuring Obi-Wan during his long exile in the Tatooine desert, watching over young Luke Skywalker, who has been entrusted to the care of his Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru. This time period has yet to be covered in canon, with Obi-Wan's exile on Tatooine spanning approximately nineteen years, there are lots of possibilities in terms of what has been happening with Obi-Wan during the past decade and what happens during the time span of this series.

One thing that fans of major franchises love to do, be it Game of Thrones or Harry Potter, is speculate and come up with all kinds of theories about what's going to happen next in their favorite film franchise. Star Wars fans are, of course, no exception and, as O'Shea Jackson Jr. has noted, Star Wars fans have all kinds of theories about what might happen in Kenobi. Here is a breakdown of some of the many questions and theories fans have about the show and the time period as a whole:

In A New Hope, Uncle Owen's attitude about Obi-Wan seems a bit...well, frosty when Luke asks about him, even to the point of suggesting that he might be dead and discouraging Luke from seeking him out. Did something happen involving Obi-Wan that upset Owen and/or Beru? The NPR radio drama of A New Hope suggests that there was some kind of confrontation between Obi-Wan and Owen per Luke, but since it is no longer considered canon, we do not have an official answer, but maybe the writers will bring something like this into the series to help explain this apparent hostility.

At the end of Revenge of the Sith, Yoda tells Obi-Wan of his recent communion with Obi-Wan's former master, Qui-Gon Jinn, through the Force. Yoda seems to be suggesting to Obi-Wan that he would teach Obi-Wan how to do the same. So, there's a chance Liam Neeson could make a special appearance in the form of dialogue with Obi-Wan or even a full-blown appearance as a Force ghost. The Legends novel, Dark Lord: The Rise of Darth Vader, includes a scene where Obi-Wan hears from Qui-Gon's disembodied voice. Perhaps the writers of Kenobi might take some inspiration from that.

Will Obi-Wan be seeking other Jedi survivors of Order 66 and/or other Force-sensitives, and if so, will he find any? Will Kenobi take place exclusively on Tatooine, or will Obi-Wan temporarily venture off of the planet for some unknown reason(s)? There are already rumors of somebody being cast for the role of young Leia and that Obi-Wan might need to help protect her as well. If true, it seems highly unlikely that he will stay on Tatooine during the entire series.

Does Obi-Wan not only serve as protector to Luke on Tatooine but is he also aiding the blossoming Rebel Alliance as well? After all, Obi-Wan is shown to have had a close relationship with Senator Bail Organa, one of the primary leaders of the nascent Rebel Alliance. In Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Bail seems confident that Obi-Wan will help the Alliance in their hour of need when dispatching Leia to find him on Tatooine, suggesting that he has maybe maintained some communication with him during the past two decades.

Once the series has aired, it will be quite interesting to hear back from Jackson and give him his two-hour special to talk about all the theories he heard and which ones turned out to be accurate and which ones did not.
