It is not an illusion: It is a museum. The Museum of Illusions!
Discover key elements in one of the newest museums in Greece

They say that nothing is as it looks. The Museum of Illusions in Athens downtown will confirm that saying and will leave you speechless! If you ever visit Greece’s capital, the Museum of Illusions is an experience you must live! We could describe it with many words, but the most accurate ones would be ‘’visually, mentally, and physically illusioned’’. There are many showpieces in the museum but in this article, the most impressive ones will be presented.
Poker face
You will not believe in your eyes, during your visit! Your eyes will be tricked, and your mind will be entertained! First of all, you must try playing cards with your other five selves. Even though you will not actually play cards, this interactive showpiece can be a great template for an amazing illusional photo. Try your best poker face while you are surrounded by mirrors and tell your friends to hide themselves during the time your photo is taken because the only player in the game is you! That is why this game is so fun with zero risk because you know you will be the winner either way!
Optical Illusions
Then you should observe some of the optical illusions that are spread all over the building. It is so entertaining because you are always wondering what is happening with your perception. If you have ever gotten drunk, you will know what I am talking about. But the fascinating part is that you can do a sober visit and still have great fun!
Infinity room
The way these illusions work is explained in every showpiece of the museum, but it is better to let your imagination guide you and the beauty of the moment fulfill your soul with joy and illusion! The infinity room is full of balloons and mirrors that can make you wonder if infinity is that far or just a look away. Take some photos with your friend(s) and continue to the first floor where the real fun begins!
Upside Down room
The highlight of the first floor is the Upside Down room. You can pose in amazing positions, ask the kind staff to take a photo of you, and then turn the photo upside down to see the magnificence of illusions. The room is a beautiful living room with a chair, a pillow, and a library on the side but the only thing is that you can see it normally if you turn it upside down. So in the final form of the photo, when you are standing on the floor is like you are hanging on the ceiling. Suggestion: Try a plunk with one of your hands or feet hanging in the air or try to climb the library.
Anti-gravity room
A must-try experience is also the so-called anti-gravity room. It is a brain-basher and will trick even the most skeptical visitors. Your brain and eyes will make unconscious interferences on whether you are standing on a flat or slanted surface. You can also try the anti-gravity lean of Michael Jackson and impress your friends with a brand-new pose photo!
Conclusion and prices
This museum is so interesting and entertaining because it is one of a kind. The limitations and the special function of our mind and our perception have been taken into consideration and because of these imperfections of ours, a chance for joy has been created as we can be entertained by the fact that not everything is understandable. This place is suitable for kids, that will enjoy this experience and will be educated through fun. It is also appropriate for adults of all ages, from students to elder people that want to get out of their comfort zone and try a different experience. I suggest visiting the Museum of Illusions. The ticket is 11 Euros for adults and 8 Euros for kids. It is open every day from 10:00 to 21:00. 1 hour is enough to explore the whole Museum!
